I like when Dan Hoard works The Extra Innings Show on 700WLW.

    I appreciate his Baseball Knowledge.

I still have no idea who Bunny is. Is it supposed to be Arroyo?

Ok, I knew something didn't sound right, but I think last season we broke a "losing series in St. Louis" streak, which was equally ironic
"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"

Duvall leads way as Reds win series at Busch

"It's not facing demons and ghosts of series in years past. Our team is better than it's been in the last few years, with a lot of new guys that just want to come in and play baseball, play hard and play well," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We pitched two shutouts here. Not only is that unlikely, but to come in here and be able to do that and extract two wins is a big deal for us in the early start of a season."

Re: Sunday 4/9/17 Reds @ Cardinals 2:15 PM

Seriously though, I appreciate the sentiments, fellas. But it has been hard for me to get excited about this season (and that's never happened to me before). I have missed every game this season for one reason or another, and it hasn't really bothered me. (That would never have been the case before this year!) The first Opening Day game I've missed in its entirety since 1979. The first time I can remember missing six games in a row since I was on vacation in London and Paris for two weeks in July 1997 (before the availability of easy access internet).

I raged hard against dying of the light (to paraphrase Dylan Thomas), but something snapped in me at the end of last season, and it's still trying to heal itself. I still enjoy coming to RedsZone, mainly for the interaction with great posters like yourselves. But I feel no love for the Reds right now. Hopefully the spark returns, but for now it feels eerily like the feeling I have for the Bengals (and those coals went cold in the late 90's). But I'll still be around, and maybe those warm feelings for the Reds will eventually return.

Anyway, since you all requested it, here's the update:

Updated Reds HR list (players in italics are active):

    Reds 100-Home Run Club
    1. Johnny Bench - 389
    2. Frank Robinson - 324

I don't know if it's just me but Carlos Martinez looks like a clone of Johnny Cueto out there.

I enjoy your HR updates. I hope you will be around enough for that. I'm like you I"m abut as unenthusiastic for this season than I have been in a long, long time. So far its a good start to this season. But as we all know it's young season. Last years team was 5-1 at this point and we all know what happened after that. We'll see how it all goes. I think the Reds do have a pretty good every day lineup. That may be good enough to keep them from losing 100 games. The big question will be if the young pitching can stand up for a long 162 game season. It shows promise but its going to take a lot more time and some luck for this franchise to be competitive again.
