Didn't see it live - Padre announcers saying Barnhart blocked the plate. Legit gripe or sour grapes?

Votto boom
Votto!

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If he doesn't hit another home run the rest of this season, then he would have to average 25 a season for the remainder of his contract to catch Bench (and that's if the Reds don't pick up his option).
Bench is catchable. I don't know if Votto will do it, but it can be done.

Even with the competition at first base, I'd advise Votto not to make vacation plans for the All Star break.
I think he gets on the team.

Defense coming through today, up 2-0. Just one more inning and we can get the bullpen in and I think we have a chance.
I didn't realize he hit 29 homers each of the last two seasons, I thought it was just above 20. I figured with regression as he ages and just gets on base more instead of hitting for power he wouldn't have a chance to do it, but you're right, given the pace he's been hitting them he actually could catch him.
So I take it you think he'll pass Robinson with ease?
Why doesn't the batter square around until the pitch is coming? Why square around early and let the corners get close?
