Here comes Thom's hard push for throwing more kids in the fire.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Votto and Pete regularly talk hitting. There are way worse people to take hitting advice from than Pete Rose, that's for sure.

Why not give them a chance to learn in these September-like exhibition games. BTW, they're not 'kids,' they're adult men.

How'd that work out with Reed, Garrett, Davis, Stephenson, and Romano?

I'm 27 and they're younger than me. They're dang kids.

Gotta cash in some runs and get this deficit down to at least two. No excuse not to.

"How'd that work out with Reed, Garrett, Davis, Stephenson, and Romano?"

They sucked, of course. But maybe, just maybe they learned something about pitching in the bigs in their horrible appearance.

"I'm 27 and they're younger than me. They're dang kids."

I get that. Just saying that they don't need to be coddled. It is rough out there, that's why they call it, metaphorically (as well as literally) 'the Big Leagues'. Can't protect the little ones forever.
