He's definitely the player keeping the Reds from the postseason.
But it's a RedsZone tradition to complain about the 24th and 25th guys on the roster and pine for the new flavor in AAA. Heck, I remember back in the late 90s on Fastball people were pining for D.T. Cromer.

Good to see Hoover returning to form.
We who complain realize it's not the main problem but speaks of the inertia that sometimes grips this FO when it comes to looking for a better option. Even if small. Even if it's only bench players but Winker could be more than that and help at the TOTO. And Scooter is Not an OF.

My guess is that they want Winker to play regularly, which he wouldn't do if he were on the Reds' bench.
Also with a short five-man bench (with two of those spots taken by catchers), defensive versatility is needed in the remaining slots. Alcantara plays 2B, SS, 3B, and all three OF spots. Kivlehan plays 1B, 3B, LF, and RF.

It's not an unfair question from where I sit, would rather Winker be here myself - which has nothing to do with more wins or losses.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2
Hoover just can't pitch here. He's glad to be away from this ballpark.
