The NBA is pretty awesome, all year long, and what happens is what actually happens, not because the league clearly favors certain franchises.

You're pointing out an issue that has more to do with it being a 5 on 5 sport where one player can have an outsized difference, but if you want to say that has something to do with the way the league is run, ok I guess.

It sure was suspenseful and very surprising watching the Patriots win it all last year.

I believe if the NFL players had the sort of freedom - for lack of a better word - that NBA players do, NFL fans would go nuts.

That's true, some of the issue is that football probably has the dumbest fan base.

He graded out something like 98th out of 109 CB's last season. That's an "F+" to a "D-" in any normal (non-public school) grading system.

That's like shoring up your D-Line by adding Damato Peko, or your Linebackers Corps by adding Rey Maualuga.

Signing Haden ensures that the Steelers' Secondary will continue to be their weakest link.

Coleman is going to burn Haden royally Week 1.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Bengals WLB Vontaze Burfict's suspension has been reduced to three games.

He'll sit out against the Ravens, Texans, and Packers. The NFL has been able to keep its player suspensions out of court by handing down lengthy bans, then reducing them on appeal. It's a tact they may explore with Ezekiel Elliott, too. Burfict is now eligible to return in Week 4. On the field in preseason games, Burfict has looked tremendous after shedding 20 pounds in the offseason.

He has nothing to lose taking this to court. It's time he draws the line and takes them to court. He's being abused and singled out repeatedly.

I didn't realize Peko and Maualuga were former pro bowlers.

Health is a major key but if healthy it's a great signing.

    Except for money.

His poor play had nothing to do with health.

He has the money. The suspensions are taking money from him. His next hit will take away a million. This one cost him about $750K. You don't get paid for suspended games. He's an RFA after this season. Being one hit away from a longer suspension and two away from an even longer ban could cost him over $10M on the contract he signs this Winter (with Bengals) or Spring (Bengals or someone else).

If you make Tom Brady money, sure you could sue. But while Burfict makes good money, it's not Tom Brady money. And it's not exactly like he hss never had any illegal hits before. If some other player who made that play had never had any problems with suspensions for late hits, there probably wouldn't have even been a fine much less a suspension. But he has a rep so whatever he does is more questionable than others.

Every Monday during the season he gets handed a paycheck for $230,000.00, less taxes.

He has more than enough money to go to court. But, it's more about spending the money now in court ($100K) to keep from losing 100 times that money ($10M) later.
