Two nice innings from Asher W. Not sure there's room for him on the forty, but I hope the Reds keep him in the organization for next season.

Thanks. I have high hopes for him.

Vincej pinch hits and grounds to short. Got down the line nicely.

Same here. His stuff is electric but he's still just here after a short stint in AA. No need to let Price run him like a 10 yr. Cueto type vet.

Vincej makes his major-league debut as a PH for Wojo. He is the first Red to wear #12 since Dusty Baker in 2013, and the first Reds player since Edwin Encarnacion in 2007.

Of course, with some of those guys, they wouldn't miss a turn anyway. They were workhorses expected to pitch every turn.
True, but you wouldn't have a Homer Bailey or Devin Mesoraco. A lot of them would be "Whatever happened to" guys. Now, we're always talking about how he's hurt again, how badly, how long, how soon, for a bunch of guys.

Suarez makes it 6-2 with a nice base hit. Streaming working for now.

Chris asks a good question: "Who on the Pirates, position by position, would start for the Reds?"

I've got McCutchen, and that's about it.

Yep. Their pitching staff is only marginally better.

Was Winker activated from the DL today? He is listed as available on Gameday.

You don't have to buy in all the way yet but ya gotta be encouraged by Castillo, Stephenson and Romano (and Mahle) over the last month. I know I'm a lot less discouraged about staff possibilities for 2018 than I was as July ended

He was, according to the transactions page. Wonder what that's about. I imagine the expanded roster factors in somehow but I'm pretty sure Winker is still banged up
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Late inning rallies are the Pirates forte.
