Maybe the right combo of young arms was Castillo, Mahle and Stephenson and things just took a little longer than ezpected to sort out.

Maybe not but it could be that simple.

bleh, single for Taillon with 2 out in the 5th.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

There was not a "hit tie" Chris, The Reds have 2 and The Pirates had 3, now they have four.

Mahle drills Harrison on the hand.

How could you do that to a Cincy native?

    Infield hit for Marte

Pirates aren't exactly crushing the ball tonight but the bases are loaded now.

Mahle gets McCutcheon to fly out. Scoreless heading to the 6th.

He's at 92 pitches now, I'd pull him but I have no doubt that Bryan will try to squeeze another frame out of him.

I believe Andrew McCutchen is extremely high on the active list of most plate appearances without a grand slam.

Mahle hits Freese on a pitch similar to where he hit Harrison.

    1 on, 1 down.
