Stephenson's double has now been ruled an E8.

Stephenson saved by some DPs, walked a few too many tonight.

The walk to Neil Walker wasn't good, with Braun on deck should have come in. Maybe was nibbling, maybe overthrowing, maybe just a little wild.

Still, he's a very talented pitcher and I'm glad he's pitching better now. You hate to see stuff like that go to waste.

    7 K's but 5 BB's thru 6 shutout innings.

Good chance Price will send him back out for the 7th. 92 pitches so far.

If Bob could cut some of those silly walks out he's gonna be just fine.

5 walks isn't ideal but hey, if you only give up 2 hits and strike out 7 it's an acceptable blip.

You can really see the talent there with Stephenson. He has these brain freezes and walks a few but man he really has good stuff.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

That was Stephenson's pattern in the minors. He definitely walked too many but, if I recall, he allowed just over 7 hits per nine innings. He's very tough to hit, very good prospect. Doug always said he has a great arm.

    2-0 Reds, Suarez RBI.

I'm guessing Stephenson comes out for the seventh, hope not, I'd remove him. Not on pitch count, on high leverage outing.

Brewers seem to mess up a lot of plays defensively for a team doing so well.

Yes, I'm totally sure Suarez was thinking there's no luck in LF when he was watching that pitch come in.

Nice 2-out RBI base hit to the opposite field, though.

I see what you are saying but those are minor league hitters and he was giving up too many HRs. I've never abandoned Bob's potential but there's no real retroactive shining up of his 2014 and 2016 seasons, they were fairly poor.

In his minor league career Stephenson pitched 627 innings and allowed 506 hits. That's a pretty eye-popping stat.
