There's nothing like these September experiments. They make for good fodder years from now.

Nice twist to the game to make it interesting. I feel like it's a general fail, but we will see. Ervin in center. Like Phil said, why not?

    We gotta get Schlebby going?

His OBP is based on HBP. He's the Reds version of Ron Hunt.

I can't tell if Thom just made a breast feeding joke or not.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Re: 9.21.17 Cardinals @ Reds - Ervin is freed!

I have never felt that Ervin was an adequate defensive center fielder. The two run double by Fowler was a ball that most MLB center fielders catch and Billy catches it easily. Cost Bailey two runs in the inning.

Eric Davis is the Reds primary evaluator of minor league outfield talent. He has seen a lot of Ervin. If Davis was telling Price, a former pitcher, that Ervin could play, I don't think he would have gone so long between starts. The Reds have been watching Ervin for five years. It is not like they have no idea what he can do.

Is he unable to get good reads? Bad jumps? Bad fundamentals?

Redszone died for a bit but Ervin hit a 2 run HR. Bailey went 4 and gave up 4. 4-3 Cardinals in the 5th.

Did Jim Day say earlier that Bryan Price doesn't like Billy Joel?

If so, that's yet another reason to fire him.
