    Anyone rootin' for Wooten?

Righty Rob Wooten tweets that he has agreed to a new deal with the Reds for the 2018 season. He racked up an impressive 26:5 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 frames, but also allowed 18 earned runs on 34 hits.

    Re: Anyone rootin' for Wooten?

Wooten announced his retirement yesterday, and concluded his tweets with: "I’m extremely excited and fortunate to remain with the @Reds as I transition into a new role. I look forward to impacting our players in a positive manner."

It'll be interesting to see what that role is. Wonder if he'll be a more conventional pitching coach or part of the new analytics strain with Johnson, Cotham and Boddy. Given the direction of pitching coaching, both in the Reds organization and generally, it might be worthwhile watching who comes aboard and how they disperse. It seems at present that the Reds pitching development is at the forefront, and I wonder if we'll see the staff become a hot spot for the next era of pitching coaches.
