"One problem with people who have no vices is that they're pretty sure to have some annoying virtues."
Tell No One, by Harlan Coben
I had to laugh in the first few pages. Every sentence was comically short. All of them. In a row. Short.
It was a bubble gum thriller that I read in two days. Was decent enough to keep me interested.

Really great writing.
We'll go down in history as the first society that wouldn't save itself because it wasn't cost effective ~ Kurt Vonnegut
I am currently read a biography of Woodrow Wilson on my journey through American history following the line of the Presidents. This book is by A. Scott Berg. It's a long book but seems very thorough which is the way I like biography's. I read one of Berg's previous books on Charles Lindbergh a number of years ago. He seems to be a very good writer who does narratives extremely well IMO.
I did finish the Theodore Roosevelt trilogy by Edmond Morris. All three books were very long but really good. One of the best biography's of a President I have read so far.
I read in recent months also, The Bully Pulpit by Doris Kearns Goodwin. It was OK but it did drag some in spots. There was a lot about Taft that I hadn't read in a shorter biography I had about him. That mainly kept my interest going in this book.

If you read 5 books a day, it would take you 80,000 years to get through the entire collection at the London Library.
Choose wisely.
Yet, I find myself reading Redszone quite frequently.

“West with Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge. Excellent book about a 1938 journey with 2 guys (grizzled zoo vet and a Dustbowl young guy) transporting 2 giraffes across the US. The two giraffes had survived a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. Excellent read. Reminded me of “Water For Elephants” if you liked that book.
Predict this will be a movie some day.

I often am reading several different books, depending upon the mood I'm in. I will soon finish Nimitz by E.B. Potter, a biography of the great WWII admiral. I am also reading Steven E. Koonin's Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn't, and Why It Matters; Frederick Douglass's My Bondage and My Freedom; and David Malsher's The Sheer Force of Will Power. I recently finished Joe Posnanski's The Baseball 100.

I bought a collection of Sinclair Lewis novels at a yard sale a couple months ago and I've been working my way through them. I didn't know anything much him or his novels before this, but I'm becoming a huge fan. Really smart, funny observations of middle-class suburban life.
Babbitt's main character was like a proto-Don Draper.

Finished Bob Odenkirk's bio Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama. Also finished Cincinnati Sports Chronicle - Volume 2 by my pal Jim Farmer. Just started the novel I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive by singer Steve Earle.
Nah, nothing like that. No Bill Murray “and hijinks ensue” mugging. A good representation of how bad things were in the Dustbowl era and how people scraped by (or didn’t, there is a lot of death which sets up the story).
Goodreads made it a book of the month. Not great literature but an enjoyable and thoughtful read.
