Is losing 98% since October bad?

On a related note of an idea that just didn’t work out...remember when Priceline started by allowing you to buy gas in advance at a set price? With oil futures and all that I’m suprised someone can’t make that happen again passing a small surcharge onto the customer for the convenience.

Re: I signed up for MoviePass

If I could have a chat with the MoviePass Prez..... I might suggest some things for the Post-Bankruptcy reorganized MoviePass. The whole One Movie a Day thing doesn't work economically. The 4 movies for $10 might.

I only go to movies in the afternoon on weekdays. I'm retired. Do it to avoid the crowds, and because my wife works so that is when I have time to kill. I never get charged more than $9 a movie. Usually it's $8 and some change. Theaters charge less in the afternoon.

I say alter your strategy to sell the tickets that are having trouble being sold. That will more likely help you be a friend (not foe) to theaters and movie makers.

You can't buy within first 2 weeks of release for big movies. Maybe extend that as long as they are 50 million a week.
You can't buy tickets priced above $10.
You can't see movies more than once.

For smaller films, partner with them, especially after week one. Maybe make them movies that don't count against your "4" movies per month, in exchange for a piece of the revenue, lowering the cost.

    Or.....

They are burning thru millions and millions of dollars, why not try a grand experiment? Buy or build one movie theater. Anywhere. Limit it to movie pass customers only. When you buy a ticket, a portion goes to the film makers and part goes to the theater. If you ARE the theater your cost per movie just went down a bunch. People want more than 4 movies, charge them $2.50 a ticket above the 4. They still use their MoviePass card and it gets added to next's month's bill.

Now the concessions are yours. Sell them at a reasonable rate. $2.00 a drink, $2.00 for popcorn. You'll still have great margins, and that rate you'll have even the cheapskates like me buying. Your reputation will spread thoughout the town. Will it work? Who knows. But give it a shot.

Well.... MoviePass might have died today. Mastercard won't let them charge movie tickets because they haven't paid their bills. Assuming they are done.... I saw 44 movies for $89.95 so $2.04 a movie.

It was good while it lasted.

You should be pretty ecstatic with that average ticket price.

If MoviePass folds, do what I do: ask your sister who works at a fancy movie theater to get you in free with their employee pass.

Re: I signed up for MoviePass

IN the continuing saga of movie pass, it revived itself Saturday (unless you wanted to see Mission Impossible), so I thought I'd go see one today before it died again, but I was too late. It's down again. It shows you "no available showings today", even though there are.....

For those of you who follow understand the stock market, MoviePass parent company did a 50/1 reverse split last week which made the stock price $22.50. Today it fell under a $1.00 again.

So, adjusted for splits, in September of 2017 the stock was at $1,275,000. It's now at .80 !!

Re: I signed up for MoviePass

In the latest of this drama... I was able to see another movie, but it dropped my average to $2.00. So I need to see at least one more. MoviePass said they were raising their rates to $15.00. And, not allow people to view big movies within the first 2 weeks. (As a year long subscriber I assume that will affect me, but I usually wait to see big movies anyway).

Stocked dropped another 54% to .23. I swear if it dropped even more I might throw $500 of "mad money" at it.
