If Rose was white and hot it would feel organic?

Re-read your post about it not feeling organic from an Asian person’s perspective...

“Wait...if someone that looks like me is in Star Wars it feels forced?”
It's even weirder to find an actor's race as distracting or forced in Star Wars, where many of the main characters are robots and literal space aliens.

Finn was not forced into anything in my opinion. Lando wasn't forced into anything either. Rose and Holdo felt forced.

Admiral Ackbar was essentially replaced by Holdo. How is white washing Admiral Ackbar a valiant cause?
Also did anyone else notice that Holdo came from seemingly out of thin air? Poe was like where did she come from? We are led to believe that the entire resistance is on these ships, being chased by the First Order, and Poe seemingly an inner circle guy, didn't know that Holdo was around? Tacked on.

Wait, her gender and her race made it feel forced? Really scratching my head on this one. I mean, it was just a pointless character. Not sure why you're tying it to gender and race.

Perhaps he had a problem with the plan, and that someone else would have come up with something better? There was an hour and a half of space ship follow the leader in this movie, because for some inexplicable reason, the First Order couldn't go faster.

It was as if the writers felt compelled to add her into the story line. If she had died on the speeder thing would she have even been a bullet point in anybody's critique of the story? I say no. Yet she had a tremendous amount of screen time. That amounted to nothing in the grand scheme of the movie.

Probably my biggest complaint is that the movie was too long for no apparent reason. The White Bronco chase through space is the sole culprit there. I agree in that they should have cut the casino side quest, blown up the other ships in the fleet and hurried along to the final battle. Too much bloat for no apparent reason IMO.

And I think that could be applicable to any number of characters in the Star Wars universe. I just think it's a disservice to an actress in the biggest role of her young career to say the only reason she was there is because she's female and asian. May not have been what you intended but that's how it comes across.

My biggest issue with the movie is the chase as well.

No, he literally said it was unrealistic so many women would be in command over men.

    That is pretty bull headed.

I liked the movie overall however I think my major issue is that the Original Ensemble of Characters had so much screen time together that you really got to grow with them and see the chemistry develop. Unfortunately this new group has had very limited air time together as they are always off on separate missions, it really makes it hard to pull for them.

This is a very good criticism and I hope it changes in episode 9

New Hope- all together but first Ben goes after the tractor beam then Luke Leah separate from Han and Cherie
Empire- Luke is away on his own for most of the movie
Return Jedi- more time together but Luke still goes off to face return to Degobah and later to face Vader.

Force Awakens Rey and Finn are largely together, Poe is separate
Last Jedi- Rey goes to Degobah, Finn goes to the Cloud city aka Casino, end up together.

The two trilogies so far have brought the characters together in the first while having them on separate missions in the second. More similar than not at this point.

Exactly New Hope is where we really got to know Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewie, I mean they were almost compacted together. These moments allowed us to grow attached to them where in the recent films I like the characters but don't feel we have had those moments quite yet with them as an ensemble cast. Maybe now that there is a handful left JJ will follow that through and give them plenty of airtime together going forward.

Seems that Rian really tried to tie up a ton of loose ends with this film...and dealing with characters old and new really made it a scramble. Might have been wise to let Rian focus on his new films and twist JJ's arm to finish these films.

Alt-Right Group Takes Credit for ‘The Last Jedi’ Backlash, Bashes ‘Star Wars’ For Including More Women
An alt-right group named Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys is taking responsibility for flooding Rotten Tomatoes with negative reviews of the Rian Johnson-directed blockbuster. One of the biggest headlines surrounding the film has been the fan backlash, specifically the movie’s shockingly low Rotten Tomatoes user score. As of this posting, “The Last Jedi” currently has a 54% user score from over 132,000 reviews.
The number is in direct contrast to the film’s A CinemaScore and 92% critic score on the website, which has made some question what exactly is going on. A moderator for the alt-right group has broken his silence to The Huffington Post to claim that the group has been using bots to significantly bring down the film’s Rotten Tomatoes user score.

The moderator explained to The Huffington Post that the group is upset with “Star Wars” for “introducing more female characters into the franchise’s universe.” The group is also not happy that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) has become a “victim of the anti-mansplaining movement” and that characters like Poe and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) are in danger of being “turned gay.” The moderator said men should be “reinstated as rulers of society,” and expressed distaste for the way “The Last Jedi” disrespects the franchise’s history.
For those who aren’t up on the depressing adult baby redditor lingo - this is called “brigading” it’s when a small group uses bots to drastically effect an online poll or rating. People are so sad and weird.

If you look at TLJ as a treatise against nostalgia then it looks like mission accomplished.
