    RIP Harry Anderson

    http://wgntv.com/2018/04/16/night-co...-at-65-report/

Loved him on Night Court, his recurring character early on in Cheers, and his appearances on Saturday Night Live.

When police report that "no foul play thing" it often turns out to be suicide. Hope that's not the case here.

    Re: RIP Harry Anderson

Over the past week we've lost Milos Forman, Art Bell, Patrick McManus, R. Lee Ermy, Hal Greer, and now Harry Anderson. It's been a rough week. Several of these names meant something extra to me, it seems. Let's lay off the death for a while, please?

btw, this movie popped into my head. It may have been the first video I ever rented, and featured Harry Anderson in flashbacks (iirc) as a Houdini type. fwiw, it starred Ryan O'Neal's son, Griffin, with scenes stolen by Raul Julia as the villain.

Word usually leaks out to what a celebrity dies from. My guess since he was 65 that it was heart related. Many people have things wrong with their heart and never know it and pass away very suddenly.
He was a good comedian. I watch Johnny Carson reruns on Antenna TV. He has been on a couple of those they aired. You could tell he was a natural comedian and came across as a good guy.

TMZ last night said Harry’s son said it was natural causes.

    Re: RIP Harry Anderson

I would not have guessed that Anderson was that close to my age (I'm 63). He was actually born nine days before my next older brother. What was so interesting about his comedy is he seemed like he was from another era, which is the persona he put forward, right down to how he clothed himself (akin to Leon Redbone musically perhaps?). The geek bit talks about the old sideshows, but he could have easily jumped into a vaudeville act. His character on Cheers was a flimflam man, again from another era, if you will.

I just now read his NY Times obit and it explains a lot as to how his persona came to be: https://nyti.ms/2J1Vxb0

I hated to hear this last night. Anytime a thread or conversation pops up asking all-time favorite tv shows, M.A.S.H., Cheers and Night Court is in my list- the other 2 can vary but those are constants for me. I wonder who owns the rights to Night Court as there are never reruns on, been years since I have seen it so I assume its a case of someone owns it and not releasing rights for airing reruns.

IIRC, they are or have been on MeTV or one of those digital channels.

I've seen it recently on Antenna TV, I think.

Is this gonna be a Keith Richards situation where John Laraquette outlives the whole Night Court crew?
