Congratulations to Cincinnati Enquirer staff for winning a Pulitzer prize

Yesterday the Cincinnati Enquirer staff was awarded the Pulitzer for Local Reporting for their series Seven Days of Heroin. This is the Enquirer's second Pulitzer, the other being awarded to Jim Borgman for Editorial Cartooning. Congrats!

Given the cuts in staff that have occurred there, this is remarkable.

I'm guessing you're wanting to make a joke, but that's not what's being celebrated in this picture. They're celebrating that the story they presented on a tragic situation garnered them the top award in their field. It doesn't minimize the important story they told.

It doesn't diminish the story. The very public celebration seems a bit...tone deaf given the nature of the story. Hey, let's all have a drink to celebrate our story about addiction!

Damn them for celebrating being recognized for their life’s work and passion.

This is like winning the World Cup for journalists.
What would you say.....ya do here?

Not to mention they cover these stories so that they can garner attention and maybe gain traction in the public discourse. Talk about an awful take...

Depending on where we are in our day/life, it can be hard to see other people celebrate an achievement.

I would expect them to celebrate. I wouldn't expect them to celebrate a tragic story so publicly and with alcohol. Privately? Of course.

Hey, you have your take, I'll have mine. I like to drink with the best of them, so I don't have any issue with the drinking itself. Just a bad look IMO.

I just saw that Kendrick Lamar won a Pulitzer for his album DAMN. I'd be curious whether his public celebration is considered appropriate or not.

It's just your take is woefully misplaced and wrong.

Faulting them for celebrating a professional achievement is (willfully) misunderstanding what's occurring in the picture.

They aren't celebrating the heroin epidemic. They're celebrating their ability to bring attention to the heroin epidemic.
