Longtime NPR News Announcer Carl Kassell dies at 84 years old

Sad news out of NPR today that Morning Edition newscaster Carl Kassell died from complications from Alzheimers. At the end of his career he also was on the comedy radio show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me.

Excellent obit in the NY Times for Kassell. Interesting points - Andy Griffith was his high school dramatics teacher, he started a college radio station at UNC with Charles Kuralt and also hired Katie Couric as an intern at a station beginning her broadcasting career.
