I was thinking it would have been more. Hopefully a lesson learned.

Great bounce back.....now get him up here for the stretch run! He can take over Antone's role for a couple innings of work in a close game.

I get the sentiment...but based on franchise history there's a better than average chance that this season will be Greene's best chance to pitch in the postseason as a Red.

    Re: Hunter Greene

Give him one more AAA start and then add him Sept. 1st. He's already on the 40-man so it makes a lot of sense.

It wouldn't be abusing his arm, he'd be throwing in relief amongst a group with, what, 8 other relievers by then? It would be babying his arm is more likely.

    Re: Hunter Greene

I can see both sides of the bring him up for the stretch run argument, but I don't think he's a slam dunk to be great for the Reds right now.

He's pitched well in Louisville, but it's not like he's mowing through lineups.. I think when you factor in his inexperience and the injury concerns along with the uncertainty, it makes most sense to hold off for the time-being.

Greene's exceptionally important for the future. I don't think the risk-reward makes sense right now.

    Re: Hunter Greene

I dunno. I would love to see Hunter Greene dominate AAA for more than one or two sporadic games. Let's see him string together six or eight straight dominate games. I want to see consistency. I haven't seen that in AAA. One game he looks like a stud and the next game, he looks like a dud.

Promoting him screams more of a PR move than a good baseball move.

Especially with Antone and Lodolo now on the shelf with potentially serious injuries, handle this kid with kid gloves. I don’t want to see him in Cincy until May 2022 at the earliest.

He has been handled with kid gloves his entire career. He threw like 30 innings his senior year and still ended up blowing out his arm.

    Let him pitch

wow do I disagree with this.

Next year's rotation will have Gray, Castillo, and Mahle. Barrero is likely the SS andthe up the middle D looks strong, at least in the IF. Still have Winker and Votto, 3B will shake itself out. Maybe Cast opts out. But the offense still looks strong, rotation looks strong too. Bullpen needs help today so next year probably more additions.

Cubs still stink, Pirates still stink and the Cards are always a threat to just buy someone. Brewers offense might be better, but they have some additional issues too, just like every team. Reds can be players for the division or a WC berth next year.

With likely expanded playoffs in the near future, Greene's playoff chances probably increase, as does every other top prospect.

I feel like the Brewers have some injury issues coming at SP in 2022 when this year catches up to Woodruff et al with the massive innings jump underway for them.

Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2
