    You highly undervalue Casey.

No, Casey is a good coach. There just isn't any rosterflexibility, and that roster needs improvement if they are going to be a serious contender.

There's enough talent on that roster to be in the hunt for the #4 seed through March under Casey. It's a 5-yr contract. They need to play under Casey for one season before they go tweeking the roster from where it is right now. While doing so, they will be trying to win.

If he can get maximum production from Griffin, Drummond, and Reggie Jackson, as well as get one of Kennard, Stanley Johnson, and Reggie Bullock to improve, the Pistons should be no worse than a 4 seed in a relatively weak eastern conference.

From my previous post about the subject:

Casey will, IMHO, even lacking a first-rounder this season (a second-round pick may well yield as much value as a pick in the 20's in this draft), instantly improve the team by developing a deep, productive bench, just as he did in Toronto.

To that end, Luke Kennard -- who was a solid pick and may well start --and youngsters like Ellenson should benefit. And, if anyone can sap potential from the likes of Stanley Johnson, Langston Galloway, Jon Leuer and Eric Moreland -- and don't forget that Ish Smith moves to the bench with a healthy Reggie Jackson -- Casey can and should be able to.
    Some other points to ponder:

    - The Pistons' record was above .500 when Reggie Jackson was healthy, and he barely had a chance to play with Griffin.

    - Jackson's PER two seasons ago - his last full season - was actually higher than Kyle Lowry's. No reason to believe that he can't do it again, but, of course, he has to remain healthy.

    - Given the choice between the one-dimensional DeRozen or the multi-faceted Griffin as your #1 option on offense, which would you choose? Yeah, me too, and that's one of the main reasons why the Raptors continue to flame out in the playoffs.

    - While he may not be Joel Embiid, Drummond > Valenciunas. And that's no knock on Valenciunas or Poetl, for that matter. But it's a safe bet that Drummond and Moreland will provide more rebounding and rim-protection per 48 minutes than Valenciunas and Poetl.

Plus, players clearly like playing for Casey. That has a ton of merit.

So that Lakers offer is going to be something like Ball, Ingram and a pick.

Cavs will almost definitely offer Love and the 8 pick.

Everyone else has to worry about the one year rental. Cavs do to, but this is their only real chance to keep Lebron and the Spurs probably don’t want to trade him in the West.

Trade him to the Nets to punish him.

I doubt the Lakers offer both Ball and Ingram. One, but not both. Kyle Kuzma may be involved as well and it will also likely take Luol Dengs salary to make it work.

If I were the Lakers I’d (gulp) hold onto Ball and sign George and LeBron.

    PG-Lonzo Ball
    SG-Kawhi Leonard
    SF-Paul George
    PF-LeBron James
    C-Nerlens Noel

Perhaps two threads on the exact same subject is one too many.
