Despite being a 4th rounder, he's this year's Trammell/Downs. Really exciting pick.

Loved the pick, but as I watch some video, I can see why there are concerns about his bat. Swing is a little long, a little mechanical. Work to do. Some great traits in this player, so let's hope he can make strides as a hitter.
So far so good.
2018 fourth-round draft pick Mike Siani hit his first professional home run for Greeneville. The outfielder is batting .311 in his first 11 games, including five multi-hit games.

I'm really encouraged by the BB/K ratio, although small sample alert.
Also had to email FanGraphs. They have Siani as an Astros' prospect! (Actually came across that twice this year. I had to email them earlier in the year because they had Cash Case as an Astros' hand as well.)

It's probably because of the affiliate switch and they got lazy. lol

I'll put this here because it's a better location for discussion...
Is it me, or does Mike Siani get hit by a lot of pitches?

The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.
What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the "F" word or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).
Really rough start to the year for Mike but his last month looks a lot better.
Last 28 days: .281/.385/.449/.834 and he's hit 3 of his 4 homers on the season.
June has been even better through 8 games. .367/.472/.467/.939

Playing at Dayton is a tough assignment for a kid one year removed from high school- especially one who wasn’t a first round pick. I’m really encouraged by Siani’s performance over the last six weeks. He seems to have made some adjustments.
In fact all four of our lower level CF (Siani, Gordon, Fairchild and Friedl although the latter is AA) seem to have followed the exact same path so far this season- dreadful first month followed by drastic improvements over the last few weeks. To me, Siani has the most potential of the four though.

Reds outfield looks really promising in 2021 and beyond. Trammell, Siani, Friedl, Siri, Aquino, Fairchild. Add Hinds to the list (I think he'll eventually find RF to his liking).
It's a huge problem at the moment, though, and next season could be even worse. Thank goodness Senzel has taken to CF so smoothly.
I just checked his splits. Home: .185 .305 .259 .565
Away: .241 .343 .379 .723
Away #'s aren't great, but better than @ home. His K # is something I'm watching. 24 in 85 April ab's, 18 in 82 May AB's, and on pace for 14 over 85 AB's in June. Slugging has gone from .200 to .415 to .465 in June.
You are right, there has been steady progress month to month. That's all you can ask for.
Siani of course played for Greeneville last year. My understanding is that Greeneville is a notch below Billings. Greeneville being low rookie and Billings high rookie. And Dayton low A ball. So Siani basically skipped over Billings and started this year in Dayton. And of course the reason is because Dayton starts in april and Billings not until mid June. The Reds no doubt wanted him to play a full year this year. Three weeks ago i thought for sure the Reds would demote Siani to Billings when their season started. Not gonna happen if he keeps raking. And maybe demoting him was never in the cards. It's really nice to see him take this difficult double jump and start producing.
