He went 3 times through the lineup. Kept it close for the better pitchers to take over. Quality start in the new reality.

    Michael Lorenzen home run!

They've gotta find a way to get this guy more AB's.

We're gonna have to put Lorenzen back at his old CF spot.

I've always scoffed at the idea of using a decent college outfielder who has done nothing but pitch for the last five seasons as an outfielder...but maybe Lorenzen really can rake.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I'm not convinced Michael Loerenzen wouldn't have been a better outfielder than he is a pitcher.

Why can't the rest of the lineup hit like Lorenzen?

Actually, that comment was about the earlier promo with some guys in a golf cart making fools of themselves.

But yes, Lorenzen can swing it.

Heh, I remember in one of the more recent game threads someone said trade Lorenzen because he's too inconsistent.

I actually thought at that time it might be more interesting to try to transition him to the outfield. You can always find a bullpen guy who throws 96. I mean, you really can. They almost seem to grow on trees anymore. And while yes you can find outfielders too, if Lorenzen is not going to be a reliable bullpen guy it might be worth at least seeing if he can be a reliable bat.

The Cardinals did it with Ankiel and while it didn't necessarily work out sensationally it did buy Ankiel major league playing time until he was 33 that he likely wasn't going to see as a pitcher barring a dramatic turnaround.

And I have a feeling Lorenzen would be a more refined hitter than Ankiel was.

One HR every 14.5 AB's for Lorenzen.
