My ignorance on this in that how if Ajax won 1-0 away they lose the aggregate at 2-3 instead of going to extra time?

You scored the away goal so shouldn’t Tot need to score 2 more than you?

Ajax scored one away goal. Tottenham scored three.

Thanks. I dislike that rule very much. Needs to just be goal for goal.

Right the only way you go to extra time in Champions League is if the first leg and second leg have identical but opposite results. In every other case of a tie someone is going to win on away goals.

The problem with that is the road team in the first leg will just completely park and the bus and play for a 0-0 game and try and win it at home.

I love it. Makes the games far more dramatic (as BuckeyeRed27 mentioned). One of the best rules in sports.

    2019 Liverpool = 1999 Reds

I thought Ajax deserved better than losing in regular time.
What Tot did was great but at least Ajax went after it. Barcelona has no excuse to play that way with Liverpool down 2 very good players.

I mean they lost a game at home with an away goal advantage coming in. They got what they deserved.

Having to watch an all England club CL and EL finals is really grating on me.

Liverpool though are great and should win even if it had been against Ajax.

It's a two legged tie and they go to Portsmouth on Wednesday. I'm rooting for them and Leeds in the Championship to get promoted. I don't particularly care about Leeds but I think Bielsa would bring some additional fun to the bottom half of the Prem.

Going in I thought it was one game, but learned it was a home and home while watching. So I jumped the gun a little. From what I understand, away goals don't factor in this competition.

Agreed. If you put up 97 points in that league and still finish second, nothing left to do but tip the hat to the team with 98.

FC Bayern wins the Bundesliga on the last day with goals by Ribery and Robben in their final match for Bayern.
