I catch myself doing it, and it’s always bizarre. VCR is a term I’ve used countless times in my life.

I'm not sure I'm catching your point here. A VCR is a generic term that covers both Beta and VHS. I grew up with Beta, which was obviously the losing platform, but most places rented movies for both types of VCRs.

Read it again, and now I get it. It's the word "player" that you think is out of place. I can be a bit slow.

Mostly known as a cinematographer who often worked with Mel Gibson. He also directed a Robinson Crusoe movie that I didn't make it through, although I liked The Escape Artist. btw, Young Mr. O'Neal's late father was played by Harry Anderson.

I think everyone knew what I was talking about. Doesn't matter. I still call CD's,DVD's etc.....tapes. So how old am I?

In high school I chatted up a cheerleader of the county rival school after a game one night and got her number, we spoke a few times and I wanted to set up a date. Her dad wouldn't let her go out with me without meeting first, so suggested I come over and bring a movie to watch and meet the parents. I stopped at our local mom-n-pops video store in town just as they were closing-one of my friends was working. Told him what was going on and he threw a tape at me and told me it would be a good one. I got to her house, met the parents and talked for awhile, then they put the movie on. Some cheesy horror flick, wasn't good but whatever. About 15 minutes into the movie it turned into an even cheesier soft core porn type of deal, which was quite embarrassing in front of her parents. Her dad got pissed and started yelling at me and saying he should kick my ass for bringing that around his daughter, am I trying to do that with her, etc. After a minute he busted out laughing that he was just messing with me.
