Minor League Games of 8/12/18 (Sunday)

Lehigh Valley at Louisville - Jose Lopez goes for the Bats. 3.07 ERA since July 1st. Not certain what it says about a team that places Taylor Sparks in the cleanup slot.
Pensacola at Mobile - Wyatt Strahan has more lives than a cat. I thought he would have been pulled from the rotation after his last start (9 ER in less than 2 IP). I would have been wrong. 7.23 ERA for Wyatt.
Jupiter at Daytona - It must be bad luck to list the starting pitcher ahead of time in the FSL. Tejay Antone is my probable. Antone is having a nice season after missing all of 2017. 2.19 ERA over his last 4 outings. 24 in High-A.
Dayton at Great Lakes - Packy Naughton is designated stopper, the Dragons having lost 5 straight. Packy better pitch his butt off. This Dayton lineup is weak sauce. Alejo Lopez is hitting .325. Next highest is Lorenzo Cedrola at .271.
Ogden at Billings - The Mustangs are galloping along with a 12-2 second-half record. They are winners of 5 consecutive. Last night's victory was number 3,000 in the team's history! Ricky Salinas grabs the reins for Billings.
Elizabethton at Greeneville - Still waiting for the Lyon to roar. Reds' second-round pick, Richardson is off to a shaky start. 6.75 ERA.

Nick Longhi (just 22 and in AAA) is starting to hit a little. 8 base knocks in his last 23 at-bats. Just 1 walk so far in Louisville in 62 at-bats.

Jose Lopez with 3 scoreless innings of work.

Good news: Naughton is doing his part - 5 scoreless innings, 7 strike outs.
Bad news: So is the Dayton offense - Cedrola led off the game with a hit; none since.

    - - - Updated - - -

Jose Lopez went 4 scoreless, before allowing 2 runs in the 5th. He put the first 2 hitters on in the sixth, and was pulled. Brandon Finnegan came on and allowed both inherited runners to score. Bats trail 4-zip.

Billings leads 1-0. Zeek White led off the game with a triple, and scored on a ground out. Ricky Salinas has faced the minimum through 3. 4 have gone down on strikes.

Interesting note. Ogden's starter, Jesus Vargas, gave up the leadoff triple to White. And then was pulled from the game due to an injured arm.

Lopez must have been thrilled to see Finnegan coming in to relieve him.....

Finnegan needs to see a doctor (either an orthopedist or a psychiatrist). He was bad in Cincinnati (7.40 ERA in 20.2 IP), but has somehow been worse in Louisville (7.69 ERA in 57.1 IP).

He clearly has talent. Something's awry.

I’ve pointed it out but he was fine through his first 5 starts or so in Louisville, even having a few really good ones. Then he suddenly got insanely bad and has pretty much stayed like that ever since. It’s weird.

Dayton falls 1-0, giving up a run in the bottom of the 9th. Naughton came out after 5 innings at 80 pitches. Didn't really matter if he went another inning or not, the Dragons weren't scoring today. Losing streak up to 6. Playoffs slipping away.

Louisville did not touch the plate either, falling 4-0. Brian O'Grady with a pinch hit to lift his average to .314.

Billings was scoring all of the runs down on the farms, 9 in all. They led 9-3, but Ogden is making some noise late, scoring at least 3 more in the 8th. Juan Martinez cracked his 5th of the season for the 'Stangs. Stay tuned.

Edit: Make that at least 5 runs for Ogden in the 8th. The margin is now just 1 run, 9-8.

Daytona is being delayed by inclement weather. Randy Ventura is hitting .395 over the past 11-game hitting streak. He is hitting .343 for the year.

Greeneville is trailing 1-0 after 3. Lyon Richardson is dealing so far. Mike Siani is 1-1, and has pushed his average up to .331.

The bullpen implosion is complete up in Billings, as Ogden has scored 7 times in the 8th, and now lead 10-9. They are still batting, as greedy as they are. They are scoring faster than I can type. 12-9 now.

Greeneville trailed 2-0 through 6. After they stretched in the 7th, Greeneville scored 9 times. Rylan Thomas hit a 3-run poke, reaching double digits on the season. Mike Siani has 2 hits, and drawn a walk.

Billings scored 11 and got waxed, 15-11. Ogden scored 12 runs in the final 2 stanzas.

Pensacola trails 4-0 with 4 innings in the books. Not much good news to report in this one.

Elizabethton made a little noise in the 9th, but falls to Greeneville 9-5. Eduardo Salazar, recently up from the AZL, had pitched 4.1 innings of 1-hit ball until wobbling in the final frame.

Greeneville's offense was extremely efficient today. 5 for 5 w/RISP. They only left 2 runners on base.
