Ohio State Football - 2018 Season

Not looking forward to Oregon State facing Ohio State to begin the year. Since Mike Riley left (another failed attempt with a promotion...first time with the Chargers, second time with the Cornhuskers) they sucked quickly. Riley is back, but as a consultant. It should help, but his strength was always being able to take average players and make excellent players out of them by mid-season. He won't have that kind of control, so I don't know what to expect this season. I'm expecting a 42-pt loss this weekend. Have no idea what the spread is, but its got to be 35-38.

I saw that it opened with the Bucks as a 38 point favorite.

Not that I expect it to matter tremendously, but that noon EST kickoff is also brutal for west coast teams.

Re: Ohio State Football - 2018

Alright, some actual football talk here. I am getting pretty excited about this season. I went back and looked at the recruiting rankings of the last three classes and OSU ranked:

    2016 - 4
    2017 - 2
    2018 - 2

In saying that, they in all likelihood will not run into a more talented team this season. The team is just oozing with talent, and if Haskins has a good enough start to the season, remember they play both TCU and PSU in September, this team should make the CFP. But if its a rough start, this team's season will be over before October hits.

There are some concerns, will the OLine come together, will the Linebackers be a mess this season, how will the secondary replace Ward? But I think when you look at this team, it may be the most talented football team since the Cooper recruiting heydays. Its probably the most talented team Urban has ever assembled, depth all over the field. They have some legit star power in Bosa, Dre'mont, JK, and Haskins. I am curious how this team came together under Ryan Day, and how this team will react to a pretty brutal first month of the season. One final thought, pray for Tulane.

I think the O line is going to be great, not concerned there. I am a little concerned about LB because there is very little experience and Davis seems like a weak link coach.

I agree with you on the depth, it’s really incredible. That is where we have a clear leg up on Michigan and Penn St.

I’m hopeful with the talent at RB, the ability of Haskins and the speed of the WR group that they can resemble the “Cardale offense” from the championship run.

I'll be watching the QB position. Hoping who ever is there (and I haven't paid much attention) is more of a real passer than Barrett.

Haskins has NFL potential and a huge arm. I loved J.T. but I’m excited for Haskins and what the offense can be with him.

I really like what I'm seeing from Haskins. Barrett always struck me as a runner who sometimes throws. Haskins looks like a passer
