Minor League Games of 9/5/18 (Wednesday)

Pensacola will be at Biloxi for Game One in this best-of-five series. I am not certain how much rain they are getting down there, if any.

Seth Varner will get the nod. His numbers are pretty good across the board, with the exception of homers. No surprises in the lineup.

Daytona is back home for Game Two (and hopefully Game Three as well) tonight. Scott Moss will show who's boss on the mound. Moss lead the FSL in wins in the regular season with 15, might as well lead the league in the postseason as well. Game starts in 30 minutes, but lineups are not up yet.

Billings is hosting Great Falls for 2 more games before the playoffs begin. The Mustangs' season record stands at 38-36, so they are guaranteed at least a .500 season. Ricardo Smith will be on the mound. Smith started the season in the rotation, but was shaky. After a spell in the pen, Smith is back in the rotation, and pitching much better the second time around.

Ibandel Isabel is hitting in the 2 hole tonight.
Clearwater's Mickey Moniak is not having a stellar start to his career. The former Number One overall draft pick is OPSing .687 in nearly 1100 at-bats.

Two singles and an E5 have the 'Tugas trailing already in the first by a score of 1-0. The Threshers are threatening to lengthen that lead.

Clearwater's broadcaster is a woman. That's a first for me.

    Another single, another run. 2-0.
    Another single, another run. 3-0.
    Sacrifice fly, another run. 4-0.

The fans are rocking at Jackie Robinson BallPark, as their hometown Tortugas have stormed back to take the lead. 2 runs in the bottom of the first and 4 more in the bottom of the second, have given Daytona a 6-4 lead.

Three errors by Clearwater have aided greatly in the comeback. Taylor Trammell is 2-2. Courtney Hawkins, Brantley Bell and Alfredo Rodriguez have chipped in with singles. Randy Ventura has lashed a double.

Jose Siri walked and TJ Friedl homered to stake Pensacola to a 2-run lead after 3.

Seth Varner has pitched scoreless ball for the first 3 innings, striking out 5.

Scott Moss gave up 5 runs (3 earned) over his 4 innings of work.
Next up was Brian Hunter. He tossed 2 shutout frames.
Joel Kuhnel has come on in the top of the 7th.

    Daytona leads now 6-5.

Brantley Bell has made 3 errors in the game. Yikes!
