It's time for the Affiliation Shuffle (2018 version)

Wichita is getting a AAA team, which is exciting to at least one person on this board!

I'm happy to make the 2-hour drive to Billings

It's time for the Affiliation Shuffle (2018 version)

It snuck up on me this year until I saw an article over at RedsMinorLeagues.com

    http://redsminorleagues.com/2018/09/...rom-pensacola/

Daytona just re-upped with Reds for 2 more years.

    Louisville signed thru 2020
It's thought that Dayton is locked to Reds.

Not changing affiliates but AAA New Orleans (Miami) is moving to Wichita in 2020.

Check out the comment from "Brad Stein" in Dougs article.

He lays out the timeline, and states the Reds/Wahoos relationship is fractured. Have no idea if this guy knows what he is talking about

    I don't either.

But, it was pointed out to me by someone last night that the last time the Reds/Blue Wahoos re-upped, it wasn't until September 15th. That deal had also expired. And that there are meetings this week in Cincinnati between the affiliates from 2018 and the Reds. So, I should probably go update that article after I get moving this morning to note that stuff. And that, and this is just me talking out loud now, if we don't hear about an extension in the next 5 days or so, then we probably will see the two sides out there shopping.

Wingnuts was a pretty decent name for the independent team given that Wichita is the "Air Capitol of the World". Wichita teams generally get named for wheat or aviation. If they could figure something out around the city's super positive portrayal in Planes, Trains & Automobiles, that would be great. Maybe the "Stubbville Passengers".

While I lived there they had a Indoor Soccer team called the Wings. I could see that revived. Although the trend these days is outrageous names.....

Here is the artist rendering of Amarillo's new park. I believe this was the one that won the fan vote.

If San Diego would prefer a team on the water, they can have Pensacola and the Reds can move into the Texas League's newest affiliate.

I know there are issues with the league and the park from a performance standpoint, but the Blue Wahoo's ballpark is just about my idea of heaven.
"Even a bad day at the ballpark beats the snot out of most other good days. I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me." The Rangers AAA team is now in Nashville, the Nats sign a deal with Fresno as that is all that was left.

Round Rock is likely going to be the Astros, when they announce.
