    Supplements

Ever since the FDA lifted their ban on Balance of Nature supplements I have been seeing more of their ads on TV especially on MSNBC, touting it as a wonder drug despite no evidence as to its benefits, especially for those who live on fast food. There also seems to be more ads for Prevegen, another high $ supplement. Anyone here have experience with these or any other high price supplements and feel they are of a major benefit or a total waste of money? I have not used either. Back in 2010 when I was being treated for a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath tumor which had a 40% 4 year survival rate I was spending $300+ month on Manuka bee propolis which I ordered from New Zealand and Brazilian killer bee propolis which one study showed it might help with the MPNST. Not sure if it did but I am still here. Currently take curcumin, milk thistle, pumpkin seed oil since my doctor gives me grief over my PSA/BPH and these supplements MAY help ( I am 72) and a multi.

    Re: Supplements

Supplements, unless you have a genetic disorder or eat like crap (which would admittedly apply to a majority of Americans) are a waste of money. Bee propolis? Really? I'm glad you're alive, but what you're asking for is for people to prove a negative. Maybe it helped or maybe it didn't, and I personally drink things like thistle tea, but most supplements are witchcraft when it comes to major illnesses.

    Re: Supplements

Supplements aren't an all encompassing panacea like many people treat them as. They are what they are: supplementing your diet. They give you vitamins that are lacking in your diet. The ones from the store should be enough to do that.
