Mystery solved: Family of baby taking first steps in 1994 VHS tape found

For a parent, almost nothing is as special as seeing your baby take their first steps. That's why an Austin man was hoping he could help track down the family featured in a tape he found – and with help from the internet, he did.

Jim McKay said Sunday night he found TyRe Alexander, the baby in the video, taking his first steps in a video that was shared thousands of times on social media.
"It was big. It was big. I watched the whole thing. It was just 18 minutes of just glorious family time and it was amazing," said McKay. "It was such a cool, beautiful moment that I had to do something with it, something I couldn't just say, 'This is amazing,' stick it in a box and forget about it. These people are young enough to still be alive. Maybe they'd like to see it.”
Alexander explained he had never seen it before but was quick to be on the phone with McKay about the find.

"That was the best part, was just to hear that he was so excited," said Alexander. "To be able to share that memory in that moment finally with my family and for the first time ... it's a treasure."

In his mid 20s now, Alexander said he's a guest educator for Round Rock ISD and Leander ISD.

    NBC News ---

Last summer, David MacNeil's 7-year-old golden retriever Scout was diagnosed with cancer and given a month to live.

On Sunday, Scout was featured in a $6 million Super Bowl ad paid for by MacNeil raising cancer awareness and urging viewers to donate to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine that saved his life.

MacNeil, the CEO of WeatherTech — best known for producing custom floor liners for vehicles — paid for the spot that shone light on the school’s program and research into fighting cancer in animals.

So when I'm not annoying everyone here, I make movies that almost no one watches. My latest one, A.E.S.O.P. is now on Amazon Prime and is free to anyone who has Amazon Prime.

You can watch it here https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/deta..._emAfnkiwG2EIr

Or just type in Aesop into their search engine. It comes up second.

Here is the trailer to give people an idea of what it's about, and if it's something they'll like. It's a sci-fi, lesbian love story, so clearly, very cliche'.

Might not be awesome to anyone else, but my wife and I bought a new house and are closing in less than 3 weeks. We bought a "project" house 10 year ago and its been an ongoing thing to do improvements etc and just tired of doing it. We hope to sell and make a good profit on it as property in this area has blown up, and moving to a new house without as many projects (I know all houses have projects over time, just not as many as current).

I have to imagine that the interest rate on that loan fits into the "Awesomeness" category! Congrats!

    Re: Awesomeness Only

A few months ago I released my fourth novel on what would have been my father’s 75th birthday, and since then I have moments where it hits me that both my parents are gone, especially my mother. Her death was a major catalyst that got me to start writing, and since then I’ve written six books and published four of them so far, with the other two coming out before the year is over.

Now I’m sitting here having one of my missing Mom moments and wishing that I would have started writing when she was still alive so she could have read some of my stuff, and I did my habitual check of Amazon to see if I have any new reviews. There were a couple new ones, one on one of my thrillers, and another one on my first novel that dealt with family relationships and dealing with loss. That was the book I wrote shortly after Mom died. The woman who left the review said that she had recently lost her mother and my book helped her deal with the loss and grieve properly. I’m a blubbering, sobbing fool right now. Sales are nice, but having a book have that kind of impact on a reader is as good as it gets.

My wife and I welcomed our son into the world this morning.

I will do my part to ensure the Reds become his first love as they became mine.
