Anthony's spot on the roster is likely to be filled by signing undrafted rookie Gary Clark, currently on a two-way contract, for the minimum. Clark has become a favorite of D'Antoni, earning the bulk of the minutes that were expected to go to Anthony.
"Gary Clark's a player," D'Antoni said after the Rockets outscored the Pacers by 16 in Clark's 33 minutes Sunday. "He's a player. Defense, rebounding, right position, shoots the ball. I mean, he's a player."

Nice Insta from Covington: He was on the 10-72 team three years ago.
atf_33Just want to thank the city of Philadelphia and the 76ers organization for allowing me to grow as a player here over the past 4 years. Thru the ups and downs I learned a lot here and y’all always had our back. It’s been a incredible journey and I definitely wouldn’t change it for the world. I built friendships and bonds that will last a lifetime. Now a new journey awaits and I’m thankful for this opportunity. Until next time Philly!!!

Don't look now, but only the Warriors are a better team than the Blazers right now.

Jimmy Butler Trade perspectives (48 hours later)
1. JB played like an all star until his knee injury right after the all star break. When he came back, he was pretty good, but that is not the same as an all-star. He played more on the perimeter, and shot more 3s, which, again, he is pretty good at, but not elite-level. I think the knee injury robbed him of some quickness that he needed to drive effectively. I think his ability to drive to the hoop was his strength, so the question is - does he need more time to recover that quickness, or at 29 has he lost a step and therefore has to rely on other skills? And then there is his self-opinion of himself...
2. Big losers in this trade: Markelle Fultz. Gorgui Dieng. Butler and Simmons need the ball all the time to be effective, so when does Fultz get the ball? He is not a shooter and the Sixers are going to add shooters to the roster, further limiting his minutes.
With Saric arriving, and Gibson and Tolliver already in place at the 4/ stretch 4, where are the minutes for G?
3. Thibs has to go. He has not figured out an offense that runs through Towns. He can only coach a guard dominated offense. DRose and Butler had the ball all the time when he coached Chicago. Look at Denver's offense for an example of using a skilled big to run your offense. The Wolves need to take this season to evaluate their new team, but is Thibs the right guy for this? HE wants to win now.

The Blazers are playing really intelligently and effectively right now. Collins has improved and the bench is fulfilling expectations and game plans and are much improved over last year.
I still think you need a wing slasher to get to the rim or draw fouls when the regular offense is stuck, but there are few of them available at a reasonable cost.

I'm not a system player. I am a system.
Minnesota should have taken the 4 1st-rounders plus whatever players were needed to make the salaries work.

Tonight Nola went into Toronto, and Alvin Gentry asked his team, "Are you PeliCANs or PeliCAN'Ts?" Turns out they're PeliCANs.

Oh my. I feel bad for the Fultz. I am really not sure playing in the NBA is what's best for him at this moment.

They could have something similar the last year and a half, but they had to figure out how to get Turner handling the 2nd Unit (why they originally brought him in here) without C.J. on the 2nd Unit (no Offensive flow with C.J. out there without Dame). Turner got forced into starting because of injuries or ineffectiveness at the '3' spot, while Turner was injured for huge portions of the last two seasons. They go from the NBA's worst bench the last few years to one of the league's best. Stauskas, Curry, Turner, Collins and Leonard/Harkless (only a few minutes)/Swanigan has been very effective. Nurkic has really improved his efficiency around the rim, while the Blazers have rim-protection for nearly 48 minutes a game between Collins and Nurkic.
Layman is a player who is getting his first NBA minutes in his 3rd season. The 3rd season is a breakout season for players who learn under Stotts. Layman has an oportunity to try out for that wing slasher. He's shooting 46% from '3', as we know he can shoot and rebound. His Defense will take time as it is now the worst of the 5 Starters. When Harkless gets healthy, Moe steps right in and Jake goes to the bench and back to 3rd string with occasional opportunities with the 2nd unit at the '4' with Collins at the '5'.

After I posted this, the Clippers knocked off the Bucks and the Warriors, both in Overtime. Gutsy. Able to withstand blow after blow.
Clippers lead the league in bench points, I believe.

Big win for Utah tonight against a very good Memphis club.
Sacramento wins another game. .500 is a heck of a goal for them this year.
Minnesota dumped Butler, but you have to wonder what the culture is like there right now.
OKC seems a lock for a Top-4 seed.
Harden needs to fire up 25+ shots per night.
