What’s sad is Cal went hard after Green in recruiting over Trae Young, and we all saw what Young did last season.

The only positive with Green was he helped land Kevin Knox. Outside of that, not really a loss.

So losing a 5* and a "Burger Boy" is no big loss? Hmmmm

Not when there’s two other Burger Boys fighting for time, plus Jemarl Baker possibly coming back.

If he was 5 star he shouldn't have been. He is not all that good.

So Cal shouldn't have recruited him?

Not in Cal's one and done system. Green is the type if he stays with a program could be really good by his senior year. But he like others don't have the patience in this system to stay and develop.

So why did Cal recruit him? Or why did Cal recruit over him?

I would recommend reading this article:

    http://kentuckysportsradio.com/baske...t-at-kentucky/

As for why, Cal has been recruiting the “package deal” types and it really hasn’t panned out. Quade was tight with Kevin Knox and Mo Bamba who Cal was recruiting as well.

Not to mention, you really don’t know until after the season who is going to go pro so with recruiting Cal is essentially recruiting as if players aren’t going to be coming back. Essentially you are hoping someone like Quade does go pro and does get drafted because if he doesn’t and comes back, he’s fighting off 1-2 other players with a coach who prefers letting freshmen play through mistakes instead and is quick to yank veterans.

Another article I’d highly recommend reading from KSR contributor/ Fox Sports writer Aaron Torres:

Maybe Quade was the problem. Kentucky up by 10 against UNC.

There’s the signature win. I think they’ve turned the corner.

On a side note, I remember when Cal first came to Lexington how comments were made about “Imagine if X player had played under Calipari” with the most frequent name being Rajon Rondo. I think we’re going to see the equivalent of Rondo under Cal in Ashton Hagans. He might be the best defensive point guard I’ve seen play at Kentucky.

Hopefully they have turned a corner. It was a very good and unexpected win. I only watched bits and pieces since I was away for the weekend. I should be able to watch it all sometime this week since I will home through New Years.
Maybe Green transferring was addition by subtraction? Only time will tell us that.
