Sorry to see him go. He seemed like a good guy, and I thought he was going to be a fixture in the Reds lineup following his big breakout in 2014. At least he was able to parlay his skills into a little more than $30 million in earnings. I hope he enjoys retirement.

Why? it's like the Mets want to punish him.

This is all a really tough break for Mes, the injuries were devastating to his career.

I hope he figures out a way to continue or, if not, has good luck in the future.

Very sad for Mes. Thought he was gonna be a force after that 2014 season.

Hopefully he was wise with his money.

Looking at the stats, not sure why he was reassigned to minor league camp considering their roster and injuries.

Why do that to a guy on a ml invite? It seems punitive to me as someone else said. I’d file a grievance if I were him.

Why don't the Mets just trade him? Maybe someone on here can fill me in.

That'd be a complete waste of time, 0% chance of winning. He signed a minor league contract this winter. All he has to do is go to AAA, as an XX-B free agent he will get a June 1st opt out date and an extra 100K$. 2 months of AAA isn't going to kill him, if he wants to keep playing proving his capabilities over 60 days would go a long way.

If they wanted to punish him, he'd be playing for the Mets.

He had an upward mobility clause in his contract, the Mets were required to offer him up for no return last week and none of the other 29 clubs wanted him.

So when back home, if Devin sees his own shadow, does that mean six more months of the Mets losing?

Just release him, can't be that hard to find a catcher for Syracuse.

My same thoughts too. Hate to see injuries derail a good career for anyone. But the good side is if he was smart, he invested his money well and should never be wanting for anything in his life.
