Tony Santillan has a 5.0 Walk per nine. Jose Siri was a bit of a suspect coming into the year and seems to be barely hanging on. T.J. Fried and Vlad have fallen off the radar. Tyler Stephenson and Taylor Trammell seem to be the only guys having a decent year and it's nothing special in Stephenson's case and TRammell is slumping big time.

Now we're putting our hopes on some guys who've not really been considered prospects (VanMeter, Cron, O'Grady, A. Lopez) being useful bench guys or journeyman like Ian Krol or Matt Bowman being able to fill the last pitcher on the staff role. I hope Trammell rights the ship and goes on a tear. Other than him, I don't see any internal help when all the FA walk or are dealt away for fodder at the deadline.
I strongly disagree with trashing the Reds’ minor league system based on some April numbers - especially for guys who are still adapting to a new team or level. I believe talent evaluators would not accept this view.

Look at the high minors. Who in AAA would you consider a prospect? There are a couple of fringe bench guys like Ervin. There is nobody who'd be any better than what you could get off the scrap heap or as a minor league free agent. In AA there is Trammell, Stephenson and Santillan. Friedl might right the ship, but he's Ryan Lamarre, maybe a little better, if he succeeds. Siri? I just don't believe. Too many Ks and not enough BBs. He'll be a fast, good defending, high K guy who might run into a HR now and then. I keep thinking of Reggie Taylor. Behind them, Greene and India are about it so far. The rankings give credit for having a lot of guys who might reach the big leagues as AAAA shuttle types, bench players or 11th or 12th pitcher types. Those guys can be had for cheap whether you get them from your own system or sign them as minor league FA from somebody else's system. They need to fill spots next year. I don't see anyone to fill them.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Good points you raise. This is how you evaluate your minor league system. Not by going with what a baseball magazine says

Not surprised to see Wren go, but sad nonetheless. I follow the Ga Tech guys a little more closely than other college players. Does that open up a spot for one of the AA outfielders?

Narciso Crook got bumped up to AAA the day Wren was released.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Just as a matter of information, what's happened with Aristides Aquino?

Mercifully, Wyatt Strahan has been assigned to the Billings Mustangs to get him off the Lookouts roster for the time being. He had a very poor season last year and has been lit up like a Christmas tree this year too. I think the Billings assignment is generous, all things considered.

Yeah for the longest time I've had no clue what they see in him.

Reds signed Jefferson Lopez , 18, P out of Mexico to minor league deal. Also, Nestor Lorant, 17, P out of Venezuela. Lorant is not only 17, but he's barely 17, May 4th was birthday.

The Reds have released Oliver Rijo.

The Reds initially signed the Dominican righthanded pitcher in June of 2016, he missed most of his playing time with the Reds due to injury.
