    Frank Robinson Has Passed Away

Frank Robinson, a pioneering superstar who has been involved with Major League Baseball for six decades, is seriously ill, The Baltimore Sun reported late Tuesday

The Sun's Peter Schmuck, citing a source with direct knowledge, reported that Robinson, 83, is "in the late stages of a long illness." Robinson has been dealing with health issues for several months, Schmuck reported.
I’ve been a Frank Robinson Fan for most of my life.
I idolized Robby when I was a little boy..

You must be about same age as me. I remember Sport Magazine (Not SI), used to have full page color portraits, and I had the one for Robby scotch taped up on my wall.

Very sorry to hear this news. I remember Robinson's rookie year very vividly; he has always been my favorite baseball player. Most compelling player I've seen in a Reds uniform. Hope he takes a turn for the better.

I saw him when he was managing the Expos against the Reds for a few games in Puerto Rico, an inner circle Hall of Famer, an all-time elite who didn’t have to do this, and I thought, “There’s someone who loves this game.”

When they presented the All-Century team at the 1999 All-Star game, I was flipping out that Robinson had a Reds hat on. I later found out there was some mix-up and they couldn't get an Orioles hat, but I kept saying to my kids, "he's ours, he's ours!" I always tell the story that my Grandma cried when they traded Robby in December, 1965. She died that March. I can't say if there's a correlation there.

Should have been ours to the present day. Worst trade in Reds history.

Occasionally I allow myself to daydream of a BRM lineup that included FRobby, right in the middle of the lineup from 1966-1972-ish.

Can you imagine the offensive destruction from that team??
    sorry we're boring

It's odd that he is generally considered an Oriole. He spent more years in Cincinnati, had more HR's and a higher average than in all his other stops combined. I think the triple crown trumped all of that.

When it comes to great players in Reds history, there is Robbie and then there is everyone else.

Three straight World Series from 69 to 71 with a win in 70.

The Reds have one player who is the consensus greatest ever at his position and another who is in the conversation. Joe Morgan is behind robby because he didn't play here long enough, but Johnny Bench probably gets that nod IMO.

Love Johnny. But he's number 2 on my list

Somebody should runs polls for the best reds of all time similar to the prospect polls. We vote for number 1, then on to number 2, maybe the top 10 or 20.

    I'm not volunteering.

Not volunteering either, but that would be fun to participate in. It would be interesting to see where Robinson, Bench, Rose, Morgan, Larkin and all the other greats rank here at RedsZone.

Edit: My apologies for being off topic.
