Peter Jackson selected to work on Beatles documentary

The Beatles have selected Peter Jackson, who most recently put out a World War I documentary, to work with the 55 hours of filming (and 140 hours of audio) from the "Let It Be" album project (often referred to as the Get Back sessions. Some have long suggested a fuller documentary could be made from this film. As a lifelong Beatles fan, I'm excited.

Looking forward to this, hopefully it’s was well done as his WWI doc.
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

    Love it.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    Yoko's playing Sauron.

Paul - actually the Beatles explored doing a Lord of the Rings movie in the 60's, something I'd heard about years ago. Here's a story with Jackson recounting what he'd heard when he did his LOTR movies

Kubrick? Someone has to go back in time and make this happen.

Re: Peter Jackson selected to work on Beatles documentary

I've got Let It Be on DVD. Every once in awhile I watch it, as well as HDN, Help, and MMT. You never get the Beatles out of your blood (LOL). So yeah, I'm very much looking forward to it because for 50 years you had this massive amount of unseen footage just hanging there in limbo.

I agree with Jackson and McCartney's assessment on the movie. Though one has to be wary of Macca, because he likes to rewrite history to a certain degree. But the movie has always been billed (seen) as the "breakup of the Beatles", and I think that was a bad rap (misconception). While the cracks were starting to show in the White album sessions, I don't think any of them went into this new "project" thinking this was it.

I mean if it's good this is awesome.

But I can remember the Anthology Series in the 90's. "This is the ultimate Beatles Documentary with the best lost footage!"

Hopefully the well is not dry.

Here's a column about this from the New Musical Express, the long running British music paper. It addresses some of what they would hope for and why more remains to be seen.

I think we've all seen the Tom Snyder 1975 interview with John. But I didn't know that there was far more unseen footage to it. Has anyone else seen this? It's over an hour long
