    If the Reds are willing to trade India to upgrade the team it'll be interesting to see what they do if this deal falls through. I still like Stroman as a trade target seeing as he's a ground ball machine that doesn't give up the long ball very often.

    Kiley McDaniel of Fangraphs (and formerly of the Atlanta Braves) pushes back a bit on the report from yesterday about the Reds "shopping" India

    Kiley McDaniel
    @kileymcd

    Sources indicate the Reds haven’t offered Jonathan India in any deal but he’s been asked for often as teams (like MIA+CLE) see Senzel/Trammell/Greene as tough ask & move to India. CIN dealt from IF strength w/Long+Downs but wants to hold India, may be ready when/if Gennett goes.
    “I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    If that is the case, Realmuto wont be a Red. I have no idea what we would even offer that Marlins would consider.

    I suspect this is Williams pushing back against recent rumors in case they don't go through.

    "No, Jonathan, we never tried to move you. So many people asked about you because you're so good!"

    Ironically, it might help a deal go through.

    If India is perceived as a crown jewel rather than "settling," Marlin fan(s?) may feel better about a trade.

    Yeah, it becomes difficult to unpack which journalists are doing the bidding of which front offices. These contradictory tales of India are pretty clear evidence these are single-sourced (and anonymous) accounts. I enjoy the info (and the sports stakes are pretty low so it's not particularly meaningful), but it'd be nice if they either did more reporting or acknowledged their story is single-sourced. Throw us a bone.

    McDaniel said "sources," which indicate at least two.

    That well could be a Marlin front office guy and a Red front office guy or two from one office.

    I suspect the latter. (And it's tinted Red.)

    Mayo back up what Kiley said

    Jonathan Mayo
    @JonathanMayo

    Contrary to what's been reported, the #Reds aren't actively shopping Jonathan India. But w/a clear top 3 prospects (Senzel, Trammell, Greene) they'd rather not part with, India is No. 4... so he is going to be the 1st prospect other teams ask about.

    So, yes... when #Reds talk w/#Marlins, India is being talked about. Latest I've heard is a deal involving Tucker Barnhart, India and one (or more) lesser prospects in exchange for Realmuto is being discussed.

    Lol! Just as the original story that said the Reds were shopping India all winter. The rival exec quoted there was from a unnamed team whose name rhymes with “darlin’s”

    And I’ve said all along, I think India/Barnhart/Gutierrez is the trade that makes the most sense for both sides.

    I'm guessing India, Barnhart, Siri, and Scott Moss.

    At this rate, Miami is starting spring training with a disgruntled Realmuto behind the dish.

    Eyy, that's the package I proposed as well. I'd be pretty happy with that.

    Not sure Siri makes sense considering the presence of Brinson and Victor Victor Mesa. I’d think they’d want some pitching to go along with India and Tucker. If not Vlad, maybe one or more of the Romano/Reed/Stephenson/Sims quartet.
