Michigan should have been hitting in a tie game in the bottom of the 9th with a chance to eliminate #1 UCLA and get to Omaha. But their left fielder dropped a routine can of corn allowing UCLA to take the lead in the ninth. Killer.

Michigan got their man off the hook for now with a run in the ninth to tie it. 4-4 to the 10th. Michigan’s 9th ended with UCLA’s left fielder catching the ball up against the wall. Super close to a walk off bomb.

Comedy of errors so far for Michigan in the 11th. Three errors in two batters to put runners at second and third with no outs (followed by an intentional walk). Bases loaded and no one out for the UCLA cleanup hitter.

And Michigan gets out of it. Baseball can be an insane game. Bullet liner to third that caused a lot of confusion. Third baseman fielded it on a hop, stepped on third and tagged out the runner that didn’t know what to do. Then an intentional walk to load the bases again. 3-0 count to the batter, two questionable strike calls and a ground ball to second. Still playing bottom 11 at 4-4.

Finally over. UCLA won it in 12. Scored due to Michigan’s 5th error. Wild game.

    Re: College Baseball 2019

For those of us who don't know Rocker, when he decides to enter the draft he'll be a Top-10 pick. He threw 131 pitches. His career high was 105, but he never labored.

From "The Tennessean" (his father is a Defensive Football Coach there who played for the Redskins):

Rocker had his historic performance after facing a scary moment in the first inning, when his high-and-tight fastball struck Duke’s Kennie Taylor in the face. Taylor writhed in pain on the turf amid a silent stadium and eventually walked slowly off the field and left the game. He returned to the dugout late in the game with a bandage on his face.

"Most kids can't rebound from that moment," Corbin said. "... I was thinking, 'I hope he can get through that moment,' and he did."

By the middle innings, Rocker fist-pumped to finish every frame, as Duke batters shook their heads in disbelief. Duke coach Chris Pollard said his players could not recognize Rocker's off-speed pitches that he "was keeping in the fastball tunnel ... and then all the sudden, 30 feet from the plate, that pitch drops out of the fastball tunnel."

Rocker walked two batters and hit Taylor. He never allowed a runner to reach second base.

"I've been in college baseball for over 25 years, and that was one of the best pitching performances that I've ever seen," Pollard said. "That's particularly the case when you consider what was at stake."

And I though pitching rotation spots 3 and 4 would be Vandy’s weak point. Then Rocker ended up pitching well enough to be #2. Shows what I know.

As a Vandy fan, this team was pretty frustrating to watch for the first 1/3 of the season. Then they started hitting every thing in sight. I don’t think they’ll win it all in Omaha (teams that bash the ball struggle in that big stadium).

But that’s ok. Winning the SEC regular season and tournament and making it back to Omaha is a successful season for sure.

At one point this year, the Pac-12 had the top 3 teams in the country in the rankings. None of them will be in Omaha this weekend. Hard to believe a league could be that overrated. Not sure how that happened.

Inexperience from their rosters. It's a different ball-game in the post-season. Traditionally, they do great in the post-season. You need a deep pitching staff to win the World Series, but one Ace can get you there.

Fyi, Pat Casey turned down coming back, so Oregon State is in search of a new Head Coach, as are the Ducks.

Auburn put up a 13-spot in the top of the first in Chapel Hill. That's rather difficult to overcome.

    Meltdown.

There's that dreaded pitching depth rearing its ugly head in the tournament.

Not sure if this is a pitching depth issue or a coaching screw-up. Coach Fox at UNC decided to get cute and start his closer instead of his #3 starter. The closer lasted 4 batters, all walks. Two more relievers came in and couldn't put out the fire. Finally, Fox brought in the #3 weekend starter. He's thrown 5.2 innings of shutout baseball so far.

Yeah, not sure what he was thinking. Dude had only started 1 game this season, was awful on Saturday in relief; why start him, and why give him that long a leash after such a horrid start? I think the 1st 4 batters walked with only 1 swing being taken???
