    Kind of a calming video...

We also have wolves established again here in Oregon. One of them actually crossed into Northern California temporarily about a year ago, which was for the first time since they were completely wiped out there in the 2nd Half of the 19th Century.

There aren't a lot of places left that are the way they were 150 years ago.

I was watching the 1952 Movie, "Bend in the River" (Jimmy Stewart, Julie Adams, Rock Hudson, Harry Morgan, Arthur Kennedy) for the umpteenth time last night. One of the spots they spend a lot of time at (when they unload the riverboat) is Rooster Rock State Park. That particular sandbar is washed away and gone from flooding, but a new one formed only 500 yards upriver and while a majority of it is spoiled by nude bathers, some of it is still available for normal use where you can sit and have the same views of "unspoiled" nature that they showed in the movie from 67 years ago. It's remarkable because it's only 15 miles upriver from Portland Metro and you wouldn't know you could get so quickly to areas that appear void of people, but Oregon has done a pretty good job of protecting its beauty from development. It's a constant battle.
