I’d actually better not post that.

There’s a very small chance and it would involve an injury in the next 10 days to an outfielder

Who's spot is he taking? Unless the Reds go with 12 pitchers, I don't see any room for him on a 4 man bench,

If the Reds carry 5 OF's he will. Because I doubt Senzel is on the OD roster. In fact I doubt he's on the Roster before May 1, and have said so all along.

ST numbers don't matter unless they do. Senzel isn't hitting and is learning a new position. Ervin is hitting and can man a few in the OF.

It bothers me to send Ervin to AAA again. He's been improving, he's going to be 27 this July, highly touted originally, still cheap and controllable.

I recognize AAA may be unavoidable, but I'd like to catch Ervin on his uptick.

I doubt Reds would get meaningful value for Phil right now, he's taken the long road and maybe doesn't have the rep.

But he may have figured it out, very good numbers in second half last season, good spring this year (for whatever that's worth).

He's hitting .300 so if that's not hitting then I can't wait to see him when he turns it on. I don't think they are carrying 4 OFs because if they send him down he will be back within a matter of weeks. If someone gets hurt before then maybe Erivn has a chance.

    He's got a .290 OBP and a .690 OPS.

No, he's not really hitting. Add to that he's learning a new position and he's giving the Reds all kinds of reasons to send him to AAA aside from the real reason, service time.

Senzel getting a temporary demotion would seem to be Ervin's path to making the team. I don't want to see him in CF, but bad CF defense seems like it's baked into the cake at this point.

I think this is close except Mahle won't be needed until April 6, so I'd expect an extra relief pitcher until then. Depending on Wood's back, he might be ready to pitch on the 17th against the Dodgers. So Mahle might just get the one start.

Mahle can’t be optioned and brought back that early. Players who are optioned have to stay down for 10 days.
