Very interesting info. So, Blake Trahan and Jimmy Herget only makes a salary of $45,300 while in the minors.

Correct, that is the minimum salary for a 1st year contract player while in the minors - it is ultimately prorated per day of service.

No, dead money is typically not included. Noted, the 2015 payroll was higher when including the dead money owed to Ludwick, Hannahan, LeCure, Arroyo, and Griffey.

There have been numerous reports about different clubs previous salary proportions being included, though I have been told differently from someone with the Reds.

Goes to show for those younger guys, there's an enormous difference in the paycheck if they're on the 25 man or not. It's the difference between getting paid a little over minimum wage to a half mill/yr.

    This is very well done.

If I may make a suggestion (or maybe I missed it), add Free Agency dates for the players with over 6 years of service time so we know when we lose them? Also maybe add extensions under additional info for players such as Votto and Barnhart?

Thanks kinsm. I spend a lot of time looking this stuff up for reference. Nice to have it all in one place. Well Done.

Kinsm, Did the Reds count the dead money twice? Meaning when it was originally differed and then again now as it's due.

Interesting stuff. I'm still amazed we managed to get Castillo for Straily and at the time feeling disappointed we let Straily go. Hindsight is a heck of a drug, huh?

Re: Kinsm's 2019 Cincinnati Reds Roster Syllabus

It took 1/6th of the season for the Reds to make a 40 man roster move, here are the updates:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->>>>>

The Reds purchased OF/IF Nick Senzel's contract (0.000 years of service), he was acquired by the Reds in the 1st round of the 2016 draft, he has 3 options remaining. He'll make league minimum while on the 25 man roster, and 45,300$ if/when he's on optional assignment.

The Reds transferred 2B Scooter Gennett to the 60 Day DL, the earliest he can return from the DL is Monday, May 27th.

The Reds then released OF'er Matt Kemp, the Reds will have paid him nearly 15M$ for a month of play (minus whatever someone else may sign him for).

The Reds 40 man roster now stands at 39.

(As far as 25 man moves go, Schebler was optioned - if he's down for 20 days he will burn his final option year. Reed has been recalled, after this season he will no longer be able to be optioned.)

Re: Kinsm's 2019 Cincinnati Reds Roster Syllabus

I haven't updated the Reds 40 man roster movements in forever, so here goes (from May 5th through today):

    On the 40 man:

2B Scooter Gennett was activated from the 60 Day-DL.

The Reds purchased 2B Josh VanMeter's contract (0.000) years of service, he was acquired by the Reds in a minor league trade of Rule 5 draft selection Luis Torrens from the Padres in December 2016. He has 3 options remaining. He'll make league minimum while on the 25 man roster, and 45,300$ if/when he's on optional assignment.

The Reds claimed RP R.J. Alaniz (0.000) years of service, off waivers from SEA, he was subsequently optioned to AAA. He has 3 options remaining. He'll make 45,300$ while on optional assignment, and league minimum if/when he's recalled.

The Reds purchased C Juan Graterol's contract (1.051) years of service, he was acquired by the Reds off waivers last winter from the Twins, he was subsequently non-tendered and then re-signed to a minor league contract. He has 1 option remaining. He'll make league minimum while on the 25 man roster, and 90,400$ if/when he's on optional assignment.

The Reds signed C Ryan Lavarnway (3.001) years of service, via free agency after being released from his minor league contract with the Yankees. He has 0 options remaining. He'll make league minimum while on the 25 man roster. If he remains with the club all year (doubtful), he'd be arbitration eligible.

    Off the 40 man:

SP Alex Wood was moved to the 60 day disabled list.

RP Zach Duke was DFA'd, cleared waivers, and ultimately released.

SP Jose Lopez was outrighted off the 40 man roster.

RP Jesus Reyes was DFA'd and is currently on waivers.

----The Reds 40 man roster now stands at 40.

Re: Kinsm's 2019 Cincinnati Reds Roster Syllabus

    Trade Deadline Update:

    On the 40 man:

The Reds purchased OF'er Aristides Aquino's contract from AAA Louisville, (0.009) years of service. He was acquired by the Reds as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2011. He has one option remaining, as this is his second time having his contract purchased (burning options in 2017 and 2018).

SP Alex Wood was reinstated from the 60-Day disabled list.

SP Trevor Bauer was acquired from the Cleveland Indians via a 3-way trade with the San Diego Padres. Bauer entered the year with 4.158 years of service and is under contract for one more season. He's out of options, but that won't matter since he has more than 5 years of service entering 2020 and thus couldn't be optioned anyway. He was initially drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 1st round of the 2011 draft.

    Off the 40 man:

C Ryan Lavarnway was outrighted off the 40 man roster.

2B Scooter Gennett was traded to the San Francisco Giants with Cash$ for a PTBNL.

SP Tanner Roark was traded to the Oakland Athletics with Cash$ for minor league OF'er Jameson Hannah.

OF Yasiel Puig was traded to the Cleveland Indians for Bauer (minor league OF'er Taylor Trammell went to San Diego and minor league SP'er Scott Moss also went to Cleveland in the deal).

----The Reds 40 man roster now stands at 39.
