Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Monday, June 24

MiPOD Edwin Yon went 3-5 with a home run (1), and 2 RBI. The 2014 bonus baby ($170,000) is making his fifth trip through rookie ball even though he is yet to turn 21. I have not heard much about him here on Redszone, and he did not even make our top 40, but fangraphs thought enough about him to make him a top 30 prospect going into this year. They talk about his impressive physique which will take a while to develop, and he may not start showing a hit tool until he enters his mid-20s. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-33-p...ncinnati-reds/

It's hard to take too much from his first four years' statistics since he was so young and he only cracked 200 PAs in 2016. Either way, the profile is high strikeouts, with a decent amount of walks. Hopefully he can develop that hit tool and start hitting for pop. Let's hope tonight's bomb is the first of many this year.

Honorable Mention Ibandel Isabel went 3-4 with a solo home run (17) and 2 runs scored. The 24 year old has certainly shown a good amount of pop in his time in the Reds' organization, hitting 35 bombs with Daytona last year (and one in the Dodgers' org, but he needs to find a way to cut down on the Ks (42.4% this year).

    Louisville Bats lost 3-1.

Scooter Gennett (rehab) went 2-4 with a double.
Josh VanMeter went 1-3 with a walk and a solo home run (14).
    Scott Schebler went 1-4.
Vladimir Gutierrez had his best start of the year. He pitched 7 innings and allowed no earned runs (3 unearned runs, though), walking only 2, while punching out six.

    Chattanooga Lookouts lost 7-5.

Alfredo Rodriguez went 1-5 with an RBI. He has hits in eight of his last nine games and his BA is up to .306.
Jose Siri went 1-4 with a walk.
Tyler Stephenson went 1-4 with a run.
Calten Daal went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI.
Scott Moss allowed 3 earned in 6 and two thirds innings with a walk and 5 strikeouts.

Daytona Tortugas had the day off.

Dayton Dragons had the day off.

Billings Mustangs were the only winners of the night (10-7).

TJ Hopkins went 2-5 with 2 runs scored.
Quin Cotton went 2-4 with a walk, doubles, home run (1), 3 runs scored, and he had 5 RBI.

Greeneville Reds had the day off.
AZL Reds had the day off.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

I have no idea how Gutierrez doesn't get MiPod for Monday.

He goes 7 Innings giving up no earned runs on the road in a league where the ERA is 5. His WHIP was 1.00, while he had a 3.0 Strikeout-to-Walk ratio. He loses to a guy with 6 Total Bases, something that happens 6 times a Day in REDS' minor league games and 10+ Total Bases is a regular occurrence.

7 Innings with zero earned runs, WHIP of 1.00 and a 3.0+ K/BB ratio happens once a month in the REDS' Minor Leagues. Not only does he deserve MiPOD, but he may have had one of the three best pitching lines for the month of June.

    Not even Honorable Mention?

...and he had to deal with multiple fielding errors.

    He also had a .586 OPS-against for the day (.290 OBP & .296 SLG).

He certainly was thought about. I am a bigger Vlad fan than most. I also thought Edwin and Ibandel had good games. It is hard for me to compare pitching and hitting stats. I can add him as Honorable Mention, if that will please you.

To compare hitting and pitching, or anything for that matter, I lean towards rarity of the accomplishment.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Tuesday, June 25

Mitch Nay, Chattanooga: 3-4, 2 HRs, 4 RBI. The former Blue Jays first rounder form earlier in the decade seems determined to show that his solid numbers last year were no fluke, he's hitting even better this year. He had to contend with a lot of injuries in the past, perhaps he's a late bloomer or just a mirage but either way the 25-year-old has to feel glad the Reds took a chance on him.

    In other action:

    Scooter Gennett, Louisivlle: 0-4. Bust.

    Josh VanMeter, Louisville: 2-4, 2B

Brian O'Grady, Louisville: 2-4, HR, RBI. You can see the HR, and O'Grady's response to a nerdy announcer criticizing him, here.

Stuart Fairchild, Chattanooga: 1-4, 2B. AA debut for the 2017 2nd rounder who was one of the better hitters in the FSL this season.

Calten Daal, Chattanooga: 1-3, BB. The AlfRod-Daal infield may have the least power of any double play duo around, but at least they're both batting over .300

Wyatt Strahan, Chattanooga: 2.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts, 0 runs. After an abysmal start to the season (ERA over 10 by May), it was noted on here that Strahan was sent to Arizona to work on stuff with some specialists. It seems to have done the trick, since returning the USC right-hander has a 1.76 ERA with 17 strikeouts to just 4 walks in 15.1 innings.

Ryan Nutof, Chattanooga: 2 innings, 3 hits, 0 walks, 1 strikeout, 0 runs.

Bruce Yari, Daytona: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI

Jonathan India, Daytona: 1-4, 2B, BB

Jose Garcia, Daytona: 1-3, HR, BB, 3 RBI

    Drew Mount, Daytona: 2-4, RBI

Mac Sceroler, Daytona: 6 innings, 6 hits, 1 walk, 7 strikeouts, 2 runs. A bit of a forgotten man from 2 drafts ago, the former 5th rounder pitched well in Billings, stumbled in Dayton, and is now pitching pretty well in the Tortugas rotation. He is already 24 though.

Dauri Moreta, Daytona: 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Juan Martinez, Dayton: 1-3, HR, RBI

    Brian Rey, Dayton: 1-2

Jhon De Jesus, Dayton: 5.1 innings, 5 hits, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, 2 runs

    Cristian Olivo, Greeneville: 1-3, BB

Allan Cerda, Greeneville: 1-3, HR, 3 RBI

    Reyny Reyes, Greeneville: 3-4

    AJ Bumpass, Greeneville: 2-4, 3B, 2 RBI

Cash Case, Billings: 2-5, 3B. Gonna need all the hits he can get after having just one in his first 6 games.

Quin Cotton, Billings: 2-5. This year's 8th rounder has been one of the Mustangs hottest hitters.

Edwin Yon, Billings: 1-2, 2 BBs

Leonardo Seminati, Billings: 1-4, HR, RBI. Italian Stallion continues to hit.

Nick Lodolo, Billings: 1.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 1 strikeout, 2 runs. Lodolo allowed a pair of singles and got yanked, and both runners came around to score off of reliever Omar Conoropo (who went 3.2 innings with a pair of unearned runs) on a two out "groundball to first base".

Francis Peguero, Billings: 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Ashton Creal, AZL Reds: 2-3, 2 walks. Such a good name.

Sebastian Almonte, AZL Reds: 2-4, BB, stolen base

Chadwick Tromp, AZL Reds: 3-5, 2B, HR, BB, 5 RBI. I think he's ready to go back to Louisville.

Debby Santana, AZL Reds: 3-5. 2017 Redszone legend Debby is trying to live up to his reputation, he's got 7 hits in his last 3 games.

Thomas Lora, DSL Reds: 1-1, 2B, 2 walks, 2 RBI, stolen base

    Darlin Guzman, DSL Reds: 2-4

Daniel Vellojin, DSL Reds: 2-3, BB

Deybert Lozano, DSL Reds: 2-4, 2 RBI

Lenniell Perez, DSL Reds: 1-3, 2B, RBI

Junior Tamares, DSL Reds: 1-2, BB, RBI

Jose Franco, DSL Reds: 4 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 1 run
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Wednesday, June 26

MiLPoD: Tyler Stephenson, Chattanooga . . . 3-4, HR (4), 2 doubles, walk, 3 RBI. It was the tall catcher’s first homer since May 8. The former first-rounder (2015), who’s batting .324 in June, raised his slugging percentage from .359, where it didn't belong, to .397. FWIW, Stephenson spent all of 2017 in Dayton and all of last year in Daytona. Just sayin’.

Honorable Mention: Austin Orewiler, Daytona . . . 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K. At 26, Orewiler is a little old for his level. Okay, a lot old. The Rice product (14th round, 2015) has never been ranked in any prospect polls. As a rule, he doesn’t strike out a lot of guys. But this is the third straight year his ERA has started with a 3, and it’s playing out so far as the best of those.

Honorable Mention: Luis Lopez, AZL . . . 4-4, triple, HR (1), 3 RBI. The 19-year-old Puerto Rican shortstop, drafted last year, enjoyed his evening as a DH.

Also notable on a night when the farms broke even but lost the run differential by 23 . . .

    Daytona

    Alejo Lopez: 4-4. All singles.

    Jose Garcia: 2-4, double, RBI. That’s 17 doubles in under 200 at-bats.

    Andy Sugilio: 2-4, run.

    Jonathan India: 1-3, sac fly.

    Michael Byrne: A scoreless inning, a hit, a K.

Andy Cox: Struck out the only guy he faced for 8th save.

    Greeneville

AJ Bumpass: Bearcat moved up to fifth in the order and delivered a triple for the second night in a row, driving in 2.

Garrett Wolforth: 2-3. Switch-hitting infielder from Nova Southeastern.

Justin Gomez: 1-3, 2 RBI. Catcher from Azusa Pacific.

Reyny Reyes: Double, RBI for Rey-Rey.

    Juan Abril: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 walks, 6 K.

Tyler Garbee: 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Righty from Mercyhurst has started his pro career with 7 scoreless innings and only 1 walk.

Raul Wallace: 1 more zero. Recently converted outfielder has been aces in his first 5 innings on the mound.

    Chattanooga

Mitch Nay: The hottest hitter in the system went 2-3 with a pair of walks, lifting his OPS to .907.

Ibandel Isabel: League-leading 18th homer and fourth in six games. Also doubled.

Alfredo Rodriguez: 2-5, double. The no-hit shortstop is still second in the Southern League in hits.

Stuart Fairchild: 2-5, RBI, SB (3).

Cory Thompson: No runs in 1.2 IP, but 2 walks and a hit.

    Billings

Cash Case: 3-5, HR (1), walk, 2 RBI. Has a long way to go after a 1-for-25 start, but he’s 5-for-10 over the last two games, with a triple and homer. Played last field.

Victor Ruiz: 2-5, double. Former catcher now manning third base.

    Jonathan Willems: 2-4, 2 RBI.

Claudio Finol: 2-4, double, sac fly, 2 runs, 2 RBI.

Valentin Martinez: 2-4, walk. Colombian catcher.

TJ Hopkins: 3 walks, sac. Ninth-rounder from South Carolina.

    Miguel Medrano: 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 walk, 4 K. Dominican, 21, has been sharp in 3 starts.

Jeffry Nino: 1.1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K, W. Tall righty from Colombia.

Jake Stevenson: 1.2 scoreless (2 K) and first save for 10th-rounder.

    DSL

Jose Acosta: 1-3, walk, 2 runs, SB (9). OPS 1.141.

Marwin Ramirez, Zamil Castillo, and Ronard Soto (Sv 1) worked 6 scoreless innings out of the bullpen as the Reds raised their record to 15-7, best in the division by 4 games.

    AZL

    Ashton Creal: 1-3, 2 walks.

    Louisville

Sal Romano: 3 IP, 4 hits, 1 run. About all the Bats, 13-0 losers, could offer, aside from doubles by VanMeter and Aquino.

    Dayton

Mike Siani: HR (5). Put the Dragons in the lead after one batter. West Michigan scored the next 15.

    Eddy Demurias: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K. Kept the visitors within 2 touchdowns.

    Cerda's final line was actually 4-5, 3R, 2HR, 7RBI, SB

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Friday, June 28

Ryan Lillie, Chattanooga: 5.2 innings, 4 hits, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts, 1 run, 0 earned runs. A successful AA debut for 23-year-old Lillie, who joins fellow former Daytona rotation members Packy Naughton and Reiver Sanmartin in making the jump up this year.

Honorable mention: Ricky Salinas, Dayton: 5.1 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 0 runs. Salinas caps off a great month of June with a 1.05 ERA in 5 starts across 26.1 innings. The reason why this strong performance it isn't more impressive? Well it is A ball and Salinas is about two months older than Lillie. We'll see what the Rice grad can do as he moves up the ladder.

    In other action:

Josh Van Meter, Louisville: 1-3, BB

    Brian O'Grady, Louisville: 1-4, 2B, RBI

    Nick Longhi, Louisville: 2-4, 2B

Narciso Crook, Louisville: 1-3, BB, RBI, stolen base

Jesus Reyes, Louisville: 2.1 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 0 runs

RJ Alaniz, Louisville: 1 inning, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 1 strikeout

Alfredo Rodriguez, Chattanooga: 1-4, BB, RBI, stolen base

Jose Siri, Chattanooga: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI

    Ibandel Isabel, Chattanooga: 1-3, BB

    Gavin LaValley, Chattanooga: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI

Calten Daal, Chattanooga: 2-3, BB. The middle infielder from Curacao with a slick glove missed a ton of time but is now back to hitting AA pitching with the same 'high batting average low power total' he displayed in Pensacola in 2016. If you ask me, I think he's already better than Blake Trahan.

Michael Beltre, Chattanooga: 1-1, 2 RBI

Ty Boyles, Chattanooga: 2 innings, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 2 strikeouts. Added a double in a plate appearance as well.

Alejo Lopez, Daytona: 1-4, BB, 3 RBI

    Hendrik Clementina, Daytona: 1-3, 2B

Mark Kolozsvary, Daytona: 1-1, 2 walks, RBI

Lorenzo Cedrola, Daytona: 2-4, stolen base

Pabel Manzanero, Dayton: 1-4, HR, RBI. The lone run in a 1-0 Dragons victory

Miguel Hernandez, Dayton: 3-4. A Redszone offseason favorite, the young infielder has found these types of games hard to come by so far this season.

Matt Pidich, Carlos Machorro, and Connor Bennett combined to throw 3.2 scoreless for the Dragons

    Reyny Reyes, Greeneville: 2-4

Allan Cerda, Greeneville: 1-4, HR, RBI. That's the 4th HR in 4 games for the 19-year-old who was born in the Bronx but presumably grew up in Latin America as he ended up in the DSL last season.

Matt Lloyd, Billings: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI. Senior sign out of Indiana University Bloomington.

    Edwin Yon, Billings: 1-4

James Free, Billings: 1-3. Undrafted free agent catcher out of Pacific University, Free was fairly well thought of by some draftniks yet for some reason went unsigned.

Francis Peguero, Billings: 2 innings, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 2 strikeouts

Yan Contreras, AZL Reds: 1-4, BB. The 18-year-old out of Puerto Rico is a fun guy to keep an eye on

Caleb Van Blake, AZL Reds: 3-5

Wendell Marrero, AZL Reds: 1-3, BB

    Jose Tello, AZL Reds: 2-4

Andres Falcon, AZL Reds: 3 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 0 runs

Pedro Moreno, AZL Reds: 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 runs

Thomas Lora, DSL Reds: 3-6, HR, 2B, RBI

Samuel Colmenarez, DSL Reds: 1-2, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases

Darlin Guzman, DSL Reds: 1-5, HR, RBI

Daniel Vellojin, DSL Reds: 1-3, 2 walks, stolen base

Junior Melo, DSL Reds: 1-4, HR, RBI

Lenniell Perez, DSL Reds: 2-2, 3B, 2 BB, RBI

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

A quickie catch-up on the games of Saturday, June 29.

MiLPoD: Mitch Nay, Chattanooga . . . 4-5, double, HR (9), 3 runs, 2 RBI. The corner infielder has been putting up numbers like he's hitting the new Triple-A ball. After a lusty May, he's batted .360 in June with 5 HR.

Honorable Mention: Eric Yang, Billings . . . 3-4, double, HR (1), walk, 3 runs, 2 RBI. Catcher from UC Santa Barbara was drafted in the seventh round, $26,500 under slot.

Home runs: Jose Garcia (5), Brian O'Grady (17), Matt Lloyd (1).

    4 Hits: Narciso Crook.

3 Hits: Victor Ruiz, Jonathan Willems, Leonardo Seminati, Josh VanMeter.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Sunday, June 30

MiLPoD: Hendrik Clementina, Daytona . . . 3-5, 2 HR (8), 6 RBI. The 250-pound catcher from Curacao, who hit 18 homers last year in Dayton, raised his OPS 44 points. If he happened to get real hot for a while, it would not be inconsistent with his history.

Honorable Mention: Johendi Jiminian, Chattanooga . . . 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K. Unfortunately, the Lookouts’ bullpen couldn’t protect the 4-0 lead. In his last 4 starts, the 6-3 Dominican, 26, has allowed 3 runs over 22.2 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.88. Also singled.

Also notable on a day when the farms went 2-4 while starting only one pitcher (Mac Sceroler, and it didn’t go well) that the Reds actually drafted . . .

    Louisville

Narciso Crook: 2-4, double, triple, 2 RBI. Slugging .500 in a month’s worth of games at Triple-A. The outfielder from Jersey is not lacking talent, but missed nearly 300 games over the previous three seasons.

Dan Longhi: 2-4, double, 2 runs, RBI.

    Aristides Aquino: HR (18), walk.

Eric Stout: Lefty, 26, picked up the W with a clean 7th inning.

R.J. Alaniz: Worked a scoreless 8th and 9th for his first save since acquired on waivers a month ago.

    Chattanooga

Mitch Nay: HR (10), walk, 3 RBI. Finishes June with a .985 OPS after a 1.002 May. Leads Southern League overall at .931. He and Ibandel Isabel are 1-2 in slugging pct.

Stuart Fairchild: 2-3, HR (7), walk, HBP. First Double-A homer.

    Taylor Trammell: Triple, walk.

    Arizona

Elvis Gomez: 4-5, 2 RBI. Nice production from the 9 hole. And from the catcher.

Chadwick Tromp: 5 walks, 2 RBI. That line might have won him honors if the guy ahead of Tromp in the lineup hadn't walked only 1 time fewer. AZL pitching might have been a factor here.

Yan Contreras: 4 walks, HBP, SB (2).

Fidel Castro: 2-4, walk, 2 runs.

    Wendell Marrero: 2-5, 2 RBI.

Caleb Van Blake: 2-5, double, RBI, 2 runs.

Jose Tello: 2-5, double, 2 runs.

    Jacques Pucheu: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, Sv (1). Tres bien.

    Dayton

    Pabel Manzanero: 2-4, double, RBI.

Mariel Bautista: 1-3, walk, run, SB (11).

    Greeneville

    Orlando Noriega: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K.

Anthony Zimmerman. Undrafted free agent from Fordham fanned 4 and walked one in 2.1 hitless innings.

    Andy Fisher: 2.1 IP, 1 hit, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Undrafted lefty from Illinois has 11 K and 0 walks in 7.2 IP.

    Raul Juarez: 2-4, double.

    Reyny Reyes: Triple.

    Daytona

    Alejo Lopez: 2-3, 2 walks.

Jose Garcia: 2-4, walk, 2 runs, RBI, SB (5).

    John Ghyzel: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Monday, July 1

MiPOD The Notorious B.O.G.Brian O’Grady went 3-5 with 2 home runs (19). I wouldn't expect him to hit like this in Cincinnati, but certainly he would be more interesting to watch and more useful to the team than Jose Peraza.

Honorable Mention Jose Siri went 2-4 with 2 home runs (7) and 4 RBI. He was probably one hit away from being MiPOD. We are all happy he is striking out less, and finally his power is showing up again.

    The Louisville Bats lost 7-6.

Alex Blandino went 1-3 with a walk, triple, was hit by a pitch, and he scored 2 runs.
Josh VanMeter went 2-5 with a double and an RBI.
Nick Longhi went 1-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.
Sal Romano threw 4 no-hit innings with no walks and 5 strikeouts.

    The Chattanooga Lookouts won 5-0.

Alfredo Rodriguez went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.
TJ Friedl went 2-3 with a walk, steal, and he scored a run.
Packy Naughton threw 6 and two-thirds shutout innings with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Wyatt Strahan threw 2 and a third shutout innings with 2 strikeouts.

    The Daytona Tortugas won 9-3.

Andy Sugilio went 4-5 with a triple, a steal, 2 runs scored, and he had 3 RBI.
Hendrik Clementina went 1-3 with a walk, double, home run (9), and he scored 2 runs.
Yonathan Mendoza went 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs.
Austin Orewiler allowed a run in 5 and a third innings with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Dauri Moreta allowed 1 earned run in 2 and two thirds innings with 6 strikeouts.
Andy Cox threw a perfect inning with 2 strikeouts.

    The Dayton Dragons won 6-2.

    Michael Siani went 1-5.
Miles Gordon went 1-4 with a walk and a solo home run (2).
Brian Rey went 2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and he had 2 RBI.
Juan Martinez went 2-3 with a walk, double, and a solo home run (5).
Miguel Hernandez went 2-4 with an RBI.
Lyon Richardson allowed 2 runs in 5 innings with a walk and 7 strikeouts.
Connor Bennett threw a shutout inning with 2 strikeouts.

    The Billings Mustangs won 9-7.

Victor Ruiz went 3-5 with a double and a run scored.
Jonathan Willems went 2-4 with a walk and a run scored.
Reniel Ozuna went 2-5 with a run scored and he had an RBI.
Edwin Yon went 3-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and he had an RBI.
Eric Yang went 2-4 with a walk, double, run and he had an RBI.
Ranser Amador went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Nick Lodolo threw 2 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts.
Jerry D’Andrea threw a shutout inning with 3 strikeouts.

    The Greeneville Reds lost 2-1.

Blake Trahan (rehab) went 1-5 with a double.
    Ivan Johnson went 2-4.
Tyler Callihan went 1-3 with a walk, triple, and he scored a run.
Allan Cerda went 1-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Danny Lantigua went 1-3 with a walk.

    The AZL Reds lost 15-2.

    Chad Tromp (rehab) went 1-4.
Jose Tello went 2-3 with a run scored.
Caleb Van Blake went 3-4 with a double and an RBI.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Tuesday, July 2

Tejay Antone, Louisville: 6 innings, 7 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 run. Not the single most dominant performance but given the way runs are given up at Louisville Slugger Field, bending but not breaking and allowing just one run in a 6 inning start is fairly impressive.

    In other action:

Alex Blandino, Louisville: 1-4, BB, 2B

Josh VanMeter, Louisville: 3-3, BB, 2B, 2 RBI, stolen base

Brian O'Grady, Louisville: 2-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI. That's 20 HRs now on the season for the Notorious BOG.

    Nick Longhi, Louisville: 2-4, 2B

Narciso Crook, Louisville: 1-3, BB, 2B. Putting up some good numbers in Louisville but then again, nearly everyone is.

Joel Kuhnel, Louisville: 2 innings, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 3 strikeouts. 2016 11th rounder who throws hard has allowed only one earned run in his 6.1 innings so far in AAA.

Taylor Trammell, Chattanooga: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI, stolen base. Going pretty good since returning from the IL.

Ibandel Isabel, Chattanooga: 2-5, HR, 4 RBI. The HR, the big man's 20th of the season, was a grand slam that helped propel the Lookouts to victory.

Michael Beltre, Chattanooga: 1-4, HR, RBI. The toolsy Beltre turns 24 today and celebrated with his 1st HR of the season last night.

Aaron Fossas, Chattanooga: 2.1 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Alejo Lopez, Daytona: 1-2, HR, 2 walks, 2 RBI. It's been mostly a successful campaign this year for the 23-year-old infielder from Mexico City, the only problem is in the power department. This was just his 2nd longball of the year.

Stuart Fairchild, Daytona: 1-3, 2B, BB. Sure seemed like he did enough to stay in Chattanooga, but he seems to be a victim of a numbers crunch and some under performance by their current crop of outfielders (Trammell, Siri, Friedl) who have not yet earned a promotion to Louisville.

Jose Garcia, Daytona: 1-3, 2B, BB, stolen base

Michael Byrne, Daytona: 2 innings, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 2 strikeouts

    Jay Schuyler, Dayton: 1-4, 2B

    Mariel Bautista, Dayton: 1-3

    Miguel Hernandez, Dayton: 1-2, BB

Alexis Diaz, Dayton: 4 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts, 0 runs

    Danielito Remy, Greeneville: 2-5, RBI

    Allan Cerda, Greeneville: 1-4, BB

    Cristian Olivo, Greeneville: 2-5, RBI

Raul Juarez, Greeneville: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI

    Justin Gomez, Greeneville: 2-4, 2B

Garrett Wolforth, Greeneville: 3-4, 2B, RBI

Randy Wynne, Greeneville: 4 innings, 4 hits, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Matt Lloyd, Billings: 2-4, HR, RBI

    Reniel Ozuna, Billings: 2-2, 2B, 2 walks

James Free, Billings: 1-3, 3B, BB, 3 RBI

    Quincy McAfee, Billings: 1-3, RBI

Miguel Medrano, Billings: 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts, 0 runs. Medrano was acquired from the Texas Rangers in the 2017 offseason after having pitched very well in the DSL. He found the sledding rough in Greeneville last year with a 5.50 ERA in 12 starts. So far this year in Billings though the 21-year-old Dominican right-hander has a 1.50 ERA through 4 starts, with 20 strikeouts to 3 walks in 18 innings.

Johnnie Schneider, Billings: 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts, 1 run, 0 earned runs

Axel Aleixo, AZL Reds: 1-3, 2B, BB

Caleb Van Blake, AZL Reds: 3-3, HR, 2B, BB, 2 RBI. That's a pretty good game for the 37th rounder out of UC Davis.

Wendell Marrero, AZL Reds: 2-5, 2B, RBI

Debby Santana, AZL Reds: 1-3, BB, RBI

Aiverson Palacios, AZL Reds: 2-4, 3B. I like to think the 19-year-old Venezuelan's parents were big fans of Allen Iverson back in 2000 (as we all were)

Noah Davis, AZL Reds: 1 inning, all zeros

Jake Gilbert, AZL Reds: 2 innings, 0 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Jose Acosta, DSL Reds: 1-4, 3B, BB

Darlin Guzman, DSL Reds: 1-4, 2B, RBI

Daniel Vellojin, DSL Reds: 3-4, 3B, stolen base

Junior Melo, DSL Reds: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
