Whoops, formatting error by me. It was Vlad Gutierrez.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Friday, August 16

James Free, Billings: 2-5, 2 HRs, 3 RBI. Nobody seems to yet know why the 21-year-old catcher out of Pacific University went undrafted despite being ranked as a Top 300 talent by Baseball America (maybe a sort of TJ Friedl situation?), but perhaps that fact has helped give him a chip on his shoulder. The switch hitter is slashing .303/.382/.584 so far in Billings, popping 6 HRs in just over 100 PAs.

In other action, with only the Mustangs, AZL and DSL Reds picking up wins:

    Brian O'Grady, Louisville: 1-3, BB

    Christian Colon, Louisville: 1-2, RBI

    Chadwick Tromp, Louisville: 1-3, BB

Tyler Mahle, Louisville: 1.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, 3 runs. On the mend.

Eric Stout, Louisville: 5.2 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 6 strikeouts, 2 runs

Alex Powers, Louisville: 2 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts, 0 runs. Not a true prospect like Kuhnel but maybe another guy who can get a look at the big league level.

    Stuart Fairchild, Chattanooga: 1-4, 2B

Jonathan India, Chattanooga: 1-4, HR, RBI

Michael Beltre, Chattanooga: 1-2, BB, stolen base

Reiver Sanmartin, Chattanooga: 6.1 innings, 7 hits, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts, 3 runs, 1 earned run. The other part of the Sonny Gray trade has been solid but unspectular in 23 starts this season between A+ and AA with a 4.06 ERA.

    Jameson Hannah, Daytona: 1-4, BB

Jose Garcia, Daytona: 1-4, 2B. 21-year-old Cuban shortstop is batting .333/.357/.500 in 14 August games so far. He leads the FSL in doubles (33) on the year.

    Lorenzo Cedrola, Daytona: 1-3, BB

    Drew Mount, Daytona: 2-4

Julio Pinto, Daytona: 2 innings, 0 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, 0 runs

    Juan Martinez, Dayton: 1-4, 2B

    Matt Lloyd, Dayton: 1-3, BB

    Miles Gordon, Dayton: 1-3, RBI

Andy Fisher, Dayton: 2.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts, 0 runs. Soft-tossing University of Illinois left-hander continues to get results in the lower levels.

    Danielito Remy, Greeneville: 1-3, BB

Tyler Callihan, Greeneville: 2-3, 3B. That was all the offense the G-Reds had.

Quin Cotton, Billings: 2-4, BB, RBI. Toolsy outfielder out of Grand Canyon University has been very effective at the top of the order for Billings.

    Eric Yang, Billings: 2-4, BB

Jonathan Willems, Billings: 2-5, 3B, RBI

Quincy McAfee, Billings: 2-4, HR, RBI

    Reyny Reyes, Billings: 2-4, 2B

Justin McGregor, Billings: 5 innings, 5 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 run

Sebastian Almonte, AZL Reds: 1-4, 2B, stolen base

Fidel Castro, AZL Reds: 1-3, stolen base

Jorge Sequera, AZL Reds: 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI

Hunter Oliver, AZL Reds: 1-1, 2B, 2 walks. Recently back from a PED suspension.

Pedro Garcia, AZL Reds: 3.1 innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 run, 0 earned runs

Ariel Mojica, AZL Reds: 2.2 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 runs. Impressive outing for the 20-year-old Dominican RHP.

Elly De La Cruz, DSL Reds: 2-5, 2 RBI

Daniel Vellojin, DSL Reds: 1-3, 2 walks

Ilvin Fernandez, DSL Reds: 1-2, 2 walks

Fraudy Rodriguez, DSL Reds: 1-3, HR, BB, 2 RBI

Jesus Rojas, DSL Reds: 5 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 2 runs, 0 earned runs
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

Bullpen summary for the games of Saturday, August 17

MiLPoD: Spencer Stockton, Greeneville . . . 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk, 4 K. Free-agent righthander, 23, rocks a 2.11 ERA and 0.96 WHIP (AZL and Greeneville) since he was signed off the Utica Unicorns of the United Shore Professional Baseball League.

Also notable on a day when the farms went 7-1 and two Salazars (both from Venezuela, different towns) posted scoreless starts . . .

    Dayton

Eduardo Salazar: 6 innings, no runs, 1 walk, W (6-3). Nice record for a losing club.

    Miguel Hernandez: 3-4, triple.

    Juan Martinez: HR (8).

    Eddy Demurias: 3 spotless innings.

    Division champion DSL Reds

Darlin Guzman: 2-3, double, walk, 2 runs. Batting .367 with 1.043 OPS.

    Mitch Nay: HR (16).

    Alfredo Rodriguez: 2-4, SB (14).

Tejay Antone: 5 innings, no runs, 6 K. Box of chocolates, he is.

Jimmy Herget: Picked up the extra-inning W with 2 scoreless frames, 3 K.

    Greeneville (18 hits)

Garrett Wolforth: 3-4, triple, walk, RBI, 2 runs. Round 14.

    Carlos Reina: Double, HR (2).

    Ivan Johnson: 2-5, HR (5), 2 RBI.

Mike Spooner: 3-4, triple, walk, 2 runs, RBI.

Jose Tello: 3-4, walk, RBI. Strong start in Greeneville.

    Danielito Remy: 3-6, double, RBI.

Matt Gill: 3 K in 2 scoreless IP.

    Johnathon Tripp: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, Sv (1). Free agent. Signed just over a week ago.

    First-place Billings Mustangs

    Orlando Rodriguez: 4.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K. Another productive free-agent signing.

    TJ Hopkins: 2-5, HR (4), 3 RBI.

James Free: 2-4, HR (7), walk, 2 RBI. Free-agent thievery?

Victor Ruiz: Double, walk, 2 RBI.

    Leonardo Seminati: 2-3, sac fly.

    Daytona

    Mark Kolozsvary: Triple, walk.

    Drew Mount: 2-3, RBI.

Michael Byrne: Hitless 9th, Sv (2).

    AZL

Edward Guzman: Single, walk, 2 runs, RBI.

    Miguel Lar: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K. Dominant over last 3 starts.

Thomas Lane: 3.1 perfect innings, 5 K. Yep, free agent.

    Chattanooga

Jonathan India: Only hit for Lookouts.

    Ryan Hendrix: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. He’s back.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Sunday, August 18

MiLPoD: Gavin LaValley, Chattanooga . . . 4-5, triple, HR (8), walk, 4 RBI. First baseman raised his OPS to .751 and got the rout going with a blast in the first inning.

Honorable Mention: Mike Siani, Dayton . . . 3-5, double, HR (6), 2 runs, 3 RBI, SB (39). With Trammell gone and Siri flagging and Friedl dealing with injuries, is Siani now the Reds’ top center field prospect? Or is Fairchild?

Also notable on a 3-4 day that saw Billings’ 6-game winning streak come to an end . . .

    Daytona

Jose Garcia: 3-5, double, 2 runs, SB (11). Running away with doubles crown. Best everyday prospect in the system?

    Andy Sugilio: 3-5, 2 SB (22).

Bruce Yari: 2-5, double, 2 RBI.

    Jose Manzanero: 2-4, double.

    Austin Orewiler: 1 earned run in 5.1 IP, with 6 K, W (8-9).

    Diomar Lopez: 2.2 spotless innings, 6 K.

    Chattanooga (14 runs, 22 hits)

    Tyler Stephenson: Double, HR (6).

Calten Daal: 4-5, double. Raised average to .305.

Michael O’Neill: 4-6, double for the newcomer from Powell, Ohio. Manned the leadoff spot.

Stuart Fairchild: 2-5, walk, 3 runs, RBI.

    Yon Mendoza: 2-5, 2 RBI.

Brad Markey: 0 walks, 7 K in his winning 6-inning start.

    Wyatt Strahan: 2 perfect IP.

    Dayton

Clate Schmidt: Righty, 25, permitted just 2 hits and 1 run in 5.2 innings, leaving with a 3-run lead that was woefully inadequate.

    Matt Lloyd: 2-4, double.

    Mariel Bautista: 1-2, 2 walks, RBI, 2 SB (20).

    Randy Ventura: 2-4, 2 runs.

    Cameron Warren: 2-4, run.

    AZL

Fidel Castro: Double, triple, 2 walks, 2 runs, 2 RBI, SB (6). Big two-bagger in 10th.

Jorge Sequera: 3-4, 2 doubles, sac fly, walk.

    Edward Guzman: 2-4, walk, RBI.

Ronard Soto: 3.2 innings, no hits, walks, runs, 6 K. Dominican, 20, came over from the DSL a month ago.

    Billings

    Eric Yang: HR (4), walk.

    Quincy McAfee: 2-3, double, walk.

    Quin Cotton: 2-4, double, walk.

    Cash Case: 2-4, RBI.

    Greeneville

    Tyler Callihan: 2-4, HR (5), 2 RBI.

AJ Bumpass: 2-4, double, 2 RBI. OPS of .840 for the Bearcat.

Jose Salvador: 6 K in 3 IP. In his last 2 starts, the 19-year-old Dominican lefty has fanned 17 batters in 7.2 innings pitched.

    Jacques Pucheu: 3 scoreless innings.

    Louisville

Nick Longhi: 2-4, double, RBI. That was about it for the Bats’ bats. The pitching didn’t show up, either.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

MiPOD Noah Davis threw 5 shutout innings with a walk and 8 strikeouts. Noah played a large part in the Reds' organization taking a giant L last night. The 2018 11th rounder who underwent TJ before the Reds' drafted him had his best appearance of his professional career. This should get him some consideration in our off-season prospect poll.

Honorable Mention Christian Colon went 2-5 with a home run (9) and 2 RBI. Being a top 4 pick overall heaps so much pressure on a young man, and Christian has struggled to make an impact in the bigs. That being said, he has performed admirably at the AAA level for now the sixth straight season. He may be a AAAA player, but that is much better than most of us ballplayers ever become. He's 30 now so it's hard to see him making an impact in the bigs, but he does have the most steals in one stop of his entire career this year (23 SB, with 12 CS).

    The Louisville Bats lost 5-4.

Derek Dietrich (rehab) went 2-4 with 2 runs scored. He was also hit by a pitch.
Rob Refsnyder went 3-5 with a double and an RBI.
Alex Powers threw a perfect inning with a strikeout.

    The Chattanooga Lookouts lost 8-3.

Jonathan India went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Gavin LaValley went 2-4 with a run scored.
Tyler Stephenson went 1-3 with a walk.

The Daytona Tortugas had the day off.

    The Dayton Dragons lost 4-3.

Michael Siani went 2-4 with a run and an RBI.
Adrian Rodriguez was charged with 4 unearned runs in 6 innings and had 5 strikeouts.

    The Billings Mustangs won 4-2.

    Quincy McAfee went 2-5.
Reniel Ozuna went 2-3 with a walk.
Leonardo Seminati went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Jonathan Willems went 2-3 with a walk, double, triple, run, and he had an RBI.
Omar Conoropo allowed a run in 3 innings with a walk and 5 strikeouts.

    The Greeneville Reds lost 8-1.

    Tyler Callihan went 1-3.
Cristian Olivo went 1-2 with a walk.
Dan Serreino threw 2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts.
Johnathon Tripp threw 2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts.

The AZL Reds had the night off.

What team did Noah Davis throw 5 shutout innings for and how does such an appearance contribute to a loss?

He started for Billings and his performance significantly helped the W.

So how did he contribute towards an L?

I'm not getting the comment above.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Tuesday, August 20

Randy Wynne, Greeneville: 8 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 17 strikeouts, 0 runs. Yes in case you hadn't heard the news you read that correctly, Wynne struck out 17 of the 26 batters he faced. It's a little less mind blowing when you realize he's a 26 year old playing in short-season A ball (after a stint with the indy league Evansville Otters earlier this year), but it's still a hell of a ballgame and one of the biggest PotD no-brainer selections I've ever had.

Honorable mention: Lyon Richardson, Dayton: 5.1 innings, 7 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 run, 0 earned runs. The young Lyon (doesn't turn 20 until January) has held his own in 25 starts in A Ball this season, not dominating but not getting kicked around either as he's got a 4.30 ERA. He's pitched fairly well his last 3 times out in road games, which is notable because road games seem to be his biggest hurdle. In the confines of Dayton he's got a 1.63 ERA in 12 starts, on the road that ERA is 7.19 in 13 starts.

    In other action:

Chadwick Tromp, Louisville: 1-1. The Bats got shut out 5-0 and there's honestly nothing else worth mentioning in that game, they had no extra base hits or walks and nobody had more than one single. But Chadwick's was a pinch hit which is never easy, so congrats to him.

Michael O'Neill, Chattanooga: 2-4, HR, RBI. Paul's nephew first HR in the Reds org.

    Stuart Fairchild, Chattanooga: 1-2

    Chris Okey, Chattanooga: 1-2, BB

Brandon Finnegan, Chattanooga: 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Tyler Jay, Chattanooga: 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 walks, strikeouts, or runs. The 2015 top 10 draft pick has been pitching pretty well in relief after the Reds picked the LHP up off the scrap heap.

Andy Sugilio, Daytona: 2-4, BB, RBI, stolen base

    Jose Garcia, Daytona: 1-4, BB

Bruce Yari, Daytona: 2-4, BB, RBI

    Lorenzo Cedrola, Daytona: 2-4

Jared Solomon, Daytona: 5.1 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 3 runs

Michael Siani, Dayton: 2-5, RBI, stolen base. The stolen base was Siani's 40th of the season.

Randy Ventura, Dayton: 2-4, BB, stolen base

Juan Martinez, Dayton: 2-4, BB, stolen base

Miles Gordon, Dayton: 1-4, BB, 2 stolen bases

Jay Schuyler, Dayton: 2-4, BB, 3 RBI

    Cameron Warren, Dayton: 2-4, 2B

    Miguel Hernandez, Dayton: 2-2, 2B, 2 RBI

Tyler Gibson, Dayton: 1.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

    Ivan Johnson, Greeneville: 1-4

    Jose Tello, Greeneville: 2-4, RBI

TJ Hopkins, Billings: 1-5, HR, RBI

    Eric Yang, Billings: 2-3

Victor Ruiz, Billings: 1-3, BB, RBI

    Jonathan Willems, Billings: 2-3, BB

Reniel Ozuna, Billings: 2-5, HR, 5 RBI. The Mustangs were trailing 5-1 when Ozuna mashed a grand donger.

Johnnie Schneider, Billings: 1 inning, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 3 strikeouts

Francis Peguero, Billings: 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs

Ashton Creal, AZL Reds: 2-6, 2B

Jose Acosta, AZL Reds: 2-5, 2 doubles, RBI

Nick Ciuffo, AZL Reds: 1-2, 2 walks

Jorge Sequera, AZL Reds: 3-5, BB

Jordan Johnson, AZL Reds: 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts, 0 runs. You'll be forgiven if you don't remember Johnson, he was the return for Connor Joe (you'll be forgiven if you forgot him too) and he was bad in 9 starts in Chattanooga before going on the IL.

Andres Falcon, AZL Reds: 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 5 strikeout, 1 run

Thomas Lora, DSL Reds: 2-4, 2 stolen bases

Wilmer Alcantara, DSL Reds: 1-3, BB, stolen base

Jeferson Geraldo, DSL Reds: 2-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBI. Geraldo might be someone to watch for in the future despite an abysmal batting line so far this season. Why? Well he was just 16 when this season started.

Lenniell Perez, DSL Reds: 1-3, 2B

Nestor Lorant, DSL Reds: 4 innings, 3 hits, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts, 0 runs
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

My apologies. It was my way of trying to say that his win prevented every Reds affiliated team from losing. It was poorly written.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Wednesday, August 21

MiLPoD: Garrett Wolforth, Greeneville . . . 3-5, 2 HR (5). Raised his OPS 49 points (to .707). The switch-hitting Texan was drafted in round 14 out of Nova Southeastern, which you can see next to Betelgeuse just after sunset.

Honorable Mention: Miguel Hernandez, Dayton . . . 3-3, 2 doubles, walk. The Venezuelan shortstop, who batted .280 last year, has struggled in Dayton but rallied in August.

Also notable on a 3-6 night when Billings lost by 11, Chattanooga lost by 8, and Greeneville blew a 9-1 lead to lose by 4 . . .

    Dayton

Morgan Lofstrom: 3-3, double, HBP, RBI.

Jay Schuyler: 2-3, walk, 2 runs.

Claudio Finol: Single, walk, run, RBI.

Connor Curlis: Former Buckeye, pitching under the radar, lowered his ERA to 2.27 with 1 earned run in 6 innings, giving up only 3 hits. Could the lefty from Findlay be challenging Packy Naughton for organization pitcher of the year?

    Eddy Demurias: 1 IP, 2 K, Sv (4).

    AZL

Luis Mey: Starter, 18, gave up 1 hit over 3 scoreless innings.

Pedro Garcia: 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Signed a month ago out of independent ball, the Venezuela native has now pitched 12.1 professional innings without allowing a run. At 24, he's way old for the AZL.

Thomas Lane: 1 hitless inning for 4th save. Completed 3-0 shutout.

    Fidel Castro: 2-4, HR (6), SB (8).

    Sebastian Almonte: First HR.

    Rafael Franco: 2-3, run.

    Ashton Creal: 2-5, 2 SB (7).

Jose Acosta: 2-5. Batting .357 in 6 games since his promotion from the DSL.

    Daytona

Jose Garcia: 2-4, double (of course), SB (12). Has probably locked up the league doubles title (35).

    Jameson Hannah: 2 outfield assists.

    Andy Sugilio: 2-4, run, RBI.

    Hendrik Clementina: 2-4, RBI.

Bruce Yari: 2 walks. Second in the league in free passes. (Still, just a .327 OPB.)

    Greeneville

Danny Lantigua: Double, triple, walk, 3 RBI. Switch-hitting OF from the Dominican.

Jose Tello: HR (7), walk, 3 RBI.

Tyler Callihan: Single, walk, 2 runs, SB (9).

    Ranser Amador: 2-4, RBI.

Graham Ashcraft: 1 run, 5 K in 4 IP. His successors gave up 15.

    Louisville

Christian Colon: 3-4, HR (10). Very quiet .802 OPS.

Tyler Mahle: In rehab start, gave up 1 run, punched out 5 over 2.2 IP.

    Chattanooga

Michael O’Neill: 3-4, walk. Second big night in a row for the former 3rd-rounder of the Yankees.

    Alberti Chavez: 3-4, 2 runs.

Calten Daal: 2-4, walk, RBI. Average up to .299.

    Gavin LaValley: 2-4, walk, run.

    Ty Boyles: 2.2 scoreless IP, 3 K.

    DSL

    Jose Franco: 3 shutout innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 4 K. Righty, 18, lowered ERA to 2.20.

    Eddy Alcantara: 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R.

    Samuel Colmenarez: 2-3.

    Billings

    Jeffry Nino: 1 run, 5 K in 3.2 IP.

    * * *

Edit: Answering my own question about Curlis and Packy . . . Curlis has a big advantage in ERA. Naughton, 7 months older and a level higher, might have a slight edge in peripherals. He's also thrown nearly twice as many innings, a significant enough difference, in my view, to swing the decision his way at this point.

It's a little less mind blowing when you realize he's a 26 year old playing in short-season A ball (after a stint with the indy league Evansville Otters earlier this year), but it's still a hell of a ballgame and one of the biggest PotD no-brainer selections I've ever had.
Just like in voting for the Cy Young, should Wynnes and losses be considered in POTD votes?

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

MiPOD Spencer Stockton threw 8 shutout innings with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Spencer is older for rookie ball (23) but new to affiliated baseball after having signed with the Reds in July right after pitching in the United Shore Professional Baseball League All-Star Game. This is the same league that provided the Reds Randy Wynne. I am not sure about the ceiling of some of these signees, but they are certainly helping the lower levels win some ballgames.

Honorable Mention Jonathan India went 2-4 with a walk, home run (11), 2 runs scored, and he had 2 RBI. The power was the missing component from his performance in Chattanooga.

    The Louisville Bats lost 6-2.

Narciso Crook went 1-4 with 2 steals and a run scored.
Curt Casali (rehab) went 1-2 with a walk and a solo home run (1).
Christian Colon went 1-2 with a walk, steal (24), and an RBI.
    Alex Blandino went 1-4.
    Alfredo Rodriguez went 1-4.
Wandy Peralta threw a shutout inning with a strikeout.

    The Chattanooga Lookouts won 11-4.

Michael O’Neill went 2-5 with a walk and a run scored.
Calten Daal went 1-6 with a triple, run scored, and 2 RBI.
Tyler Stephenson went 1-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and he had an RBI.
Samir Duenez went 3-5 with a run and 2 RBI.
Brantley Bell went 2-5 with a run scored and he had an RBI.
Michael Beltre went 2-5 with a double, run scored, and he had an RBI.
Alberti Chavez went 0-2 with 3 walks and a run.
Wendolyn Bautista allowed 4 runs in 6 innings with 2 walks and 12 strikeouts.
Jesse Stallings threw 2 perfect innings with a strikeout.
Cory Thompson threw a shutout inning with a strikeout.

    The Daytona Tortugas won 14-11

Andy Sugilio went 3-6 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.
Jose Garcia went 3-4 with a walk, double, 2 runs, and he had 2 RBI.
Bruce Yari went 1-4 with 2 walks, 2 runs, and he had 2 RBI.
Bryant Flete went 2-5 with a walk, run, and he had 2 RBI.
Hendrik Clementina went 3-5 with a double and 4 RBI.
Drew Mount went 2-5 with a triple, run scored, and he had 2 RBI.

    The Dayton Dragons won 7-2.

Michael Siani went 1-2 with a walk, steal (41), run scored, and he had an RBI.
Matt Lloyd went 3-3 with a walk, double, run scored, and he had an RBI.
Jay Schuyler went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
Cameron Warren went 2-4 with a run and 2 RBI.
Miguel Hernandez went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI.
Matt Pidich threw a perfect inning.

The Billings Mustangs had their game suspended.

    The Greeneville Reds won 10-0.

Mike Spooner went 2-4 with a walk, 2 doubles, an RBI, and he scored 3 runs.
Ivan Johnson went 1-3 with a home run (6), a steal (11), and he had 3 RBI.
Tyler Callihan went 1-4 with a run scored and he had an RBI.
Cristian Olivo went 2-4 with 3 RBI.
Johnathon Tripp threw a shutout inning with a strikeout.

    The AZL Reds won 9-6.

Ashton Creal went 1-2 with 2 walks, a triple, 2 runs, a steal, was hit by a pitch, and he had an RBI.
Jose Acosta went 2-5 with a steal, a run, and an RBI.
Caleb Van Blake went 3-5 with a home run (6) and 4 RBI.

Re: 2019 Minor-League Player of the Day

    Games of Friday, August 23

Jacques Pucheu, Greeneville: 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts, 0 runs. It is the year of the undrafted free agent in the Reds system, and this time it is a LHP (who you tend to assume has to be crafty) out of Austin Peay State being recognized as PotD. Despite his name Pucheu is not from Montreal, he was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi.

    In other action:

    Christian Colon, Louisville: 2-4

    Alex Blandino, Louisville: 2-4, 2B

    Stuart Fairchild, Chattanooga: 2-5, 3B, 2 RBI

Samir Dueñez, Chattanooga: 2-3, HR, 2B, BB, RBI. Nice game for Ibandel's fill in, but it was all for naught.

    Chris Okey, Chattanooga: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI

Tyler Jay, Chattanooga: 4 innings, 6 hits, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, 1 run. The opposition scored 17 runs against the Lookouts, but Jay was the least to blame.

Alejo Lopez, Daytona: 3-5, stolen base

Bruce Yari, Daytona: 1-3, 2B, BB, RBI

Mac Sceroler, Daytona: 7 innings, 5 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 2 runs. The 2017 5th rounder is already 24 years old, but is still having a pretty solid season in high A with a 2.4 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 110 innings.

    Michael Siani, Dayton: 3-5, 2B

Randy Ventura, Dayton: 2-5, RBI, stolen base

    Morgan Lofstrom, Dayton: 2-5

    Miles Gordon, Dayton: 2-4, 2B

Jose Tello, Greeneville: 1-3, HR, RBI

    Justin Gomez, Greeneville: 2-3

Quin Cotton, Billings: 1-3, stolen base

Leonardo Seminati, Billings: 4-8, HR, 2B, 2 RBI. Billings resumed their game from yesterday and played an additional 7 inning game as well, with the young Italian being the Mustang with the most offensive production.

TJ Hopkins, Billings: 2-3, 2B, RBI

James Free, Billings: 1-3, 2B, BB

Reniel Ozuna, Billings: 1-2, 3B, BB, 3 RBI

Omar Conoropo, Billings: 4 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 0 runs

Miguel Medrano, Billings: 5 innings, 6 hits, 0 walks, 10 strikeouts, 1 run

    Ashton Creal, AZL Reds: 3-5

    Jose Acosta, AZL Reds: 2-4

Yassel Pino, AZL Reds: 2-3, RBI

Fidel Castro, AZL Reds: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI

    Luis Tejada, AZL Reds: 2-4

Sebastian Almonte, AZL Reds: 2-4, HR, 4 RBI
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
