I'm happy that Disco seems healthy. He had a good spring training, and he had a good first start tonight.

Robert Stephenson has looked like a different pitcher. He got a bit bailed out by a line drive right at Peraza last night, but he pumped strikes and had a nasty running fastball up in the zone. And truth be told, Yelich's fly ball probably should have been caught.
5K's, 1BB, 4 IP so far. 35/52 pitches for strikes.

"Today was the byproduct of us thinking we can come back from anything." - Joey Votto after blowing a 10-1 lead and holding on for the 12-11 win on 8/25/2010.
I join in the happiness on Disco and Stephenson. Both would be huge developments for this team. Stephenson, frankly, could still help this team as a starter down the road if he spends this year excelling in long relief.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

He's somehow become a symbol of the offensive struggles despite being fine so far, but I'm liking Jose Iglesias. His glove is the real deal.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

To echo others, Robert Stephenson.
He could be the most important pitcher in the pen by season's end if he reaches his potential.

Tyler Mahle made me happy. That looked like the Mahle who dominated several levels in the minors.

The pitching depth is beginning to make me happy. What a difference a few good starters makes. Trickle down and all of that.
The Reds have 5 solid starters in their rotation, and a very good one coming back from the IL soon. They may have a tough decision to make in a few weeks.
Bullpen is shakier but not so much at the bottom but at the top. Reds bullpen has depth, plus guys like Romano and Herget in AAA. They just lack true shut-down guys at the top.
Adding Kimbrel would make the pitching staff pretty interesting.

Reds starting pitchers have not allowed a home run through the first 6 games for the first time since 1981.

It's only the 3rd time since the end of World War 2 that they've done it. Also did it in 1970.

Reds pitchers have allowed 2 home runs through 6 games. That's the fewest they've allowed through 6 games since 1990 (also 2).
They'd already allowed 9 HR at this point in 2018.

Keeping the ball in the ballyard 6 times out of 6 is not nothin'. Especially when 5 of those 6 were at GABP.

Jose Iglesias seems to swing a much better bat than I was led to believe.

Entering play today, we've given up fewer runs than everyone other than the Twins and the Rays, and the Twins have played only played 5 games to our 6.
Of course, the flip side to that is....the offense....

Our pitching definitely has me pleased, especially after what we saw last year from the staff.
