Playoff P has a pretty good excuse this year. That shoulder is a limp noodle right now!!!

In the Utah-Rockets game, Snyder is assigning Ingles and Rubio to overplay Harden to his left, keeping a defender on his hip. It is a really weak trap to make him go to his right. This approach is not working, Rockets up by 15.
Gobert is helpless against Harden in the paint. I only saw him affecting one missed shot. He was so ineffective in his rim protection, Crowder started to help gobert in the paint leaving Tucker (crowder’s baseline assignment) open to hit three three pointers and open up the rockets lead to 15.

    The Rockets thoroughly destroyed them.

This is the playoffs. Any momentum gained from GM1's win for any team this weekend is only good until they lose.

I get the theory behind that defense, but it didn't work and isn't going to work. You have to let Harden do his thing and take away the other 4 guys. Letting him have a free run is going to leave corner 3s open and make Rudy have to choose between stepping up or staying back and basically takes away the major advantage Utah has with having Rudy in the middle. Snyder is a good coach and he will adjust, but this is just a nightmare match up for Utah.

Bad news for the Nets/Sixers GM2:

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Ed Davis (ankle) and Jared Dudley (calf) will be game-time calls for Monday's Game 2 vs. the 76ers.

The Nets want these two to go through their pregame routines before an official decision is made, and it's not clear exactly what they were able to do at shootaround. Davis would be a huge loss for the Nets, and if both these guys are forced to the sidelines, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson should be able to get into the rotation and Jarrett Allen will really need to step it up. Stay tuned.

    SOURCE: Brian Lewis on Twitter

Joel Embiid (sore left knee) will be a game-time call for Monday's Game 2 matchup with the Nets.

Embiid will likely be a true game-time call tonight, with us not getting official word on his status until just moments before tip-off, but it's pretty obvious he's not quite 100% at the moment. If he is able to play, he'll likely have a big game statistically, although the efficiency might not be there. Stay tuned.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Duke freshman power forward Zion Williamson announced Monday that he will forego his remaining eligibility and enter the 2019 NBA Draft.

Williamson (6'7/285) began the season as a projected high lottery pick, and by season's end he had removed any doubt as to who the best prospect in this draft class is. The highly athletic freshman forward swept every major national player of the year award, and he posted averages of 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. Williamson shot 68.0% from the field, 33.8% from three and 64.0% from the foul line, so there is some work to be done with regards to his perimeter shooting ability. That being said, teams knew that he struggled to make those shots and the South Carolina native still managed to shoot 68% from the field overall. He missed a couple games in February/early March due to a knee injury suffered when he show broke apart during a matchup with North Carolina, but Williamson had no issues when he returned to lead Duke to the ACC tournament title. While his weight was a point of conversation before the season began, there were no issues. Barr

Paul George is obviously hurt, but you have to like his manning-up.

    From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

Paul George (sore right shoulder) declared that he's "pain-free" after getting through a full practice on Monday.

Ironically, PG-13 made this statement while sporting a massive ice pack on his right shoulder, but it doesn't sound like he intends to miss any playoff games. "It’s well enough now to throw out any injury problems," said George, "it didn't have an effect during the game." George went just 8-of-24 from the field during Sunday's Game 1 loss, and he bricked more than a few wide-open looks, but he's not using the shoulder injury as an excuse.

With Blake Griffin missing the entire series, MIL looks headed for the sweep.

Kanter finished the game with a personal offensive rebounding percentage of 44.9%, and his defensive rating of 97.6 was the best of any of the Trail Blazers that played.

If Nurkic hadn't gotten hurt Kanter would have been doing that with the 2nd Unit. Nerlens Noel wouldn't have looked so great, and Zach Collins wouldn't have been on the floor and earn, by far, the team's worst +/- on the night.

One of the best signings after a buy out I can remember...genius.

When did Joel Embiid become this insufferable? Not as bad as JJ Redick, mind you, but getting there fast.
On the other hand, I just love watching Levert and Dinwiddie play.

Re: NBA 2018-19, Part IV: Pete and Threepeat are sitting on a fence

I kept harping the last three months that PHI has zero continuity while making their run towards the playoffs, but that if Embiid could get back by the 4th week of March, they'd have enough time together to be ready once the playoffs begin. The advantage of not having had time together is that they have, as Reggie Miller keeps poining out, the greatest opportunity to improve as the playoffs go on. Most teams won't improve at all, as they are what they in Round 3 as they are before the playoffs begin.

There will be some improvement for all teams as their rotations have tightened and everyone finds their new roles, but no team will improve as much as PHI.

Cousins is done for this series, at least.

Fantastic performance by the Sixers....showing their upside. Great crowd there tonight.

The Blazers played really well. They came out just red hot, coasted for a while and made key plays when OKC got close.
I can see them getting to the second round, which is like winning the super bowl for Portland.

The Sixers seemed to figure it out tonight, 145 points.

Doc Rivers coached teams play all out. Clips have all kinds of flaws and probably have no business being here, but I'm still tuned in watching them give the Warriors everything they can handle.
