    FWIW.

I'm actually somewhat excited by this news, because I think the critics were beyond dead wrong on their praise of "The Last Jedi."
I am wondering though if JJ swung the pendulum a bit too much in an attempt to give fans what they want...

Regardless I will watch Thursday and enjoy it.

The reviewer from the BBC tends to agree:

    Saw it tonight...no spoilers.

It's enjoyable but far from perfect. I agree with some of the reviews...it's a lot of movie to fit in to 2+hrs and it suffers as a result under the weight of trying to tie every single loose end in the Star Wars Saga's.

I probably would rate it 5 or 6th best film in the franchise...go see it and enjoy it but don't expect to be wowed by it.

It's everything VIII should have been rolled into everything IX had to be. And they nailed it.

It was very good, considering the work it had to do to get to a finish line.

And it just underscores how disappointingly pointless the previous film was.

I think this episode suffers from bigger plot holes then the previous episode...I wish they had divided the final installment into 2 films as this last one feels forced to get everything tied up in a neat package.

I seem to be the only lifelong Star Wars fan who thought this was a horribly disappointing mess that completely ruins the overall arc of the entire saga.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Not sure if I'll watch this in theaters (or at all) but I am glad that JJ gave a lot of Star Wars fans (and, apparently, cast) their revenge against Rain Johnson in place of a proper end to the trilogy. A lot of them seem pleased by that decision.

I liked TLJ, but Johnson didn’t leave JJ much to work with storyline wise.

He also basically threw everything from JJ’s TFA in the trash.

With that said, how do you even know what you are talking about having not seen the movie?

It's possible that my friends are burying the lead by pumping their fists and cursing Rain Johnson as their first, second, and third (and seemingly only) celebratory reactions after having watched the movie last night.

Re: Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker

It's kind of amazing this trilogy ends right back where it started

Empire/First order seemingly defeated, Emperor seemingly dead, Evil sith dude repents then dies and
One Jedi named Skywalker left to rebuild everything.

All the same as the end of Return of the Jedi

I hope when they do Episode 10-12 (yes it's going to happen) they plan it out some more then these films, like the prequel trilogy one movie was basically useless and one tried to make up for it.

Jedi but no Sith means the Force is out of balance.

Solid list but I would have flipped 2 and 3 and put Ernest Scared Stupid at the top.
