I know the word was that Votto and some others would be getting more days off, but I'm a little surprised by how many days so early in the season

There’s basically no reason to ever hit Jose Iglesias 5th.

Lefty on the mound, Votto, Winker and Dietrich all sitting. Wonder why Barnhart is playing instead of Casali.

Not a fan on the lineup, Votto needs the reps to get the bat going. Does rest really matter in April if the season is toast by June?

I never support batting the pitcher 8th but what is Bell's rhyme and reason for when he does that? I haven't figured it out

Left hander on the mound so they must pull as many Left hand hitters as possible. Horrible lineup. Castillo better throw a shutout and hope someone hits a bomb.

    Reds are gonna smoke em
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I’ll say it again. The best hitters need to be in the lineup. This lineup is LOADED with out makers.

So they’ll probably score eleventy runs

I don’t want to see any lineups without Votto or Winker...ESPECIALLY when Suarez, Puig, Kemp, Peraza, Iglesias aren’t hitting

    That’s a happy 420 day lineup.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

It only makes sense when there is a struggling lead-off type who you want directly in front of the top of the order without the pitcher making an out in between them (Billy Hamilton is a guy who should always hit 9th). It keeps them in a lead-off role, but prevents them from getting the extra PA actually leading off would give them. On this team, it only makes sense when Peraza hits 9th behind the pitcher. Anybody else besides the pitcher in the 9 hole is just Bell trying to look progressive when he's really an old school third generation guy.

Dusty Specials were more formidable. Bad enough we have to play Kemp, but does he have to hit cleanup?
“The crows seem to be calling my name,” thought Caw.
