I would not mind an extension but I have to disagree about Roark's watchability. Even before this inning went longer, Roark just gives me heartburn with how much he needs to battle for outs.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Roark currently gets $10 million per season. Presumably he would want more than that in an extension.

    I’d pass.

I’d spend less on the BOR and more on the top part of the rotation. Castillo, Gray, and $$ guy.

Roark is 32. He is a solid pitcher, gutty guy, grinds it out.

Cool, have fun waiting for the Reds to sign a $$ guy.

Is that a guy who eats at a restaurant that has wait service but entrees under $20?
    Where we gonna go?

I hope the Reds go that way next off-season. They should have a lot of “cap” space. If they had a big three with Castillo and Gray, they could use guys like Mahle, Disco, Santlllan, maybe a pickup to fill it out.

Not holding my breath, I take your point, but I hope they look for a major pitcher next off-season.

Would love to add Wheeler to Castillo and Gray next year!

Bottom four, Roark at 77 pitches, man on first, two outs, 1-2 on hitter. Reds up 4-2.

Wheeler singles so two men on.

Reds with bullpen action, Roark over 80 pitches, bases now loaded for Alonso.

    Derrick Johnson coming out.

    Trouble.

Looks like he’s aiming the ball instead of just pitching

Alonso is Roark’s last batter. Lefties due up, Peralta warming.
