Votto 8-18 with 11 walks in his lifetime vs Hendricks. He couldn't have asked for a better matchup.

I think this will be the Reds (mostly) every day lineup. I like it
The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.
What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the "F" word or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).

Me neither. Suppose Dietrich and Iglesias are on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out. I'd much rather have Barnhart bat than Roark.

I'd rather have Casalli batting than Barnhart - 8th or 9th

I'm fine with Barnhart hitting 9th. His hitting has been anemic..

Yea, this really only made sense to me with Hamilton batting 9th. You'd want to limit his ab's because of his anemic on base ability so put him at the bottom of the order. But in the event he did get on base you'd rather have that happen with the top of the order coming up instead of the pitcher so you don't waste his speed. So bat him 9th behind the pitcher.

I don't get the thinking with Barnhart though. The only explanation I can think of is that the starting pitcher is only going to hit twice most likely and after that it's a pinch hitter or double switch situation with a hitter more capable than Barnhart. Do any other teams do this? I know LaRussa used to do it.

Is there any other NL team that regularly bats the pitcher 8th or is Bell just smarter than the other 14 managers?
