About 3 walks...I'll accept 3 less walks over a 70 game span and prefer to get the increased batting avg and power that Iglesias is giving me.
I like Iglesias so this is no knock on him but what power does Iglesias give you?

At the time of that post Votto was slugging .388. Just about everyone gives you more power than that and that includes Iglesias

Well hopefully Votto keeps improving this season are Iglesias doesn't fall back to his career norms.

    Re: The future of Votto

Votto over the past 28 days has hit a very Vottoian slash line of .306/.398/.514/.911

Has the no-stick, all glove Jose Iglesias ever sustained a line like that over 4 weeks, even at his very best? I am guessing not.

He is hitting a cool 242/299/323/621 over the same period...basically he had an amazing start to the year but is exactly what he always has been his entire career.

Jose Iglesias has more than delivered based on the expectations when signed. He's having a career year at the plate and playing gold glove type defense at short. I'm not sure why there's a need to minimize his contribution based on what Votto does or doesn't do.

Votto up to .781 OPS, I guess he really does want to get to .800 by 7/1.

I am sorry it came off that way...I really like Iglesias and enjoy watching him play defense. I am a fan of his for sure.

But there is plenty of data on what he can do with his bat, and I wouldn't expect much on that end moving forward. Some are acting like he is likely a better moving forward than Votto, which is simply unreasonable.

I'm more convinced now that Votto will repeat the year he had last year, with maybe a couple more HRs since he's up to 8. As for Iglesias, all I know is that he's leading the team in batting and no one saw that coming. I'd say that Dietrich has leveled off way more than Iglesias. I'll be surprised if Dietrich ends up with more than 25 HRs.

Yeah, that was a bad experiment...let's not ever try that again.

Batting Votto lead off has been Bell's biggest blunder. I could see it for a few games out of desperation, but he shouldn't have done it 15 times.

    Joey Votto: .261/.358/.418

    Paul Goldschmidt: .253/.342/.420

Matt Carpenter: .217/.327/.384 (still hammering the Reds, but yikes)
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
