    2020 Draft Class

It's never too early, right? Besides, there's this news...

Prep Standout Blaze Jordan Reclassifies For 2020 Draft Class

Just a few days before the 2019 draft, there’s big news for an already strong 2020 draft class.

DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.) High infielder Blaze Jordan is reclassifying from the 2021 class to graduate early and become draft eligible in 2020.

“I’ve been talking to my coach Tim Dulin with the Dulin (Dodgers) organization,” Jordan told Baseball America. “He brought it to us, but we’ve been thinking about it and praying about it a lot. We just feel like it was the best decision for me and it was (in) the best interests with my coaches and my family also.

So the O's or Marlins will likely get Blaze and the Reds will pick in the 5 to 7 range for 2020.

The Reds look like a .500 team to me.

That'll mean somewhere in the middle of Round 1.

Calling it now: Blaze Jordan will not be a top 10 pick. He's an amazing hitter. Truly. But he's 17 and is already 1B only? He's 17 and no longer has any physical projection left?

We're not talking about Bryce Harper here.

As of right now the Reds would have the 9th pick with a whole bunch of teams right behind them. The Reds have 26 wins and there's 12 teams with 27-29 wins. We could be picking in the top 10 or in the 20's depending on how things go.

Might as well post BA's "way-too-early" mock:

Gives us Jared Kelley a Texas High School RHP at #10

Well, it's not like we're being "linked" to him or anything.

I like former Texas HS RHPs named Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens. Perhaps we can find one of those.

I'm surprised Reid Detmers from Louisville isn't on that list. I would have expected him to be among the top handful of 2020 prospects at this point.

They should pursue that kid at that HS in Florida, the OF with some helium and upside, and that pitcher in Texas who really is a push and drive flame thower. Plus there is that Georgia guy who the Braves are eyeing.

Unless there's a catastrophe, I'd guess the Reds pick in the 12-18 range.

The first three names in BA's mock are Emerson Hancock, Spencer Torkelson, and Pete Crow-Armstrong. I personally do not believe that these are real names of real people.
