Nice to see Van Meter get the start over Puig. Now get a couple hits.

Winker's bat needs to come alive in the middle of that lineup.

And that's the way it should be. And the same versus lefties.

Yeah, I like it. Too bad he had to offset by starting Peraza, especially a position he's pretty much proven he can't play. Given the choice, I'd have started Puig and stuck VanMeter at SS.

Peraza has shown he can play short stop well. He is not great there but he is above average. Jeesh the expectations.

After you mentioned this, I was surprised to see VanMeter has played the position, and on a semi-regular basis.

I don't know what's running through Peraza's head these days, but that look he gave Dietrich after Peraza muffed the throw into 2B (after he had already thrown the DP ball past Votto) was telling.

    Great Puig haircut, though.

Would love to see a little old school baseball. Not necessarily sac bunts but just some run manufacturing. Steals, take some extra bases, productive at bats with less than two, etc. Not just get a man on, swing for the light poles, k, groundout, pop out, etc.

You aren't watching the same guy I am. He's below average at best. I think he's unacceptable defensively other than on a spot basis. I guess that's what today is, but I'd rather have Puig's bat and defense in RF and than Peraza at SS.

Peraza is -11 in DRS and -2.2 in UZR/150 for his career at SS.

Jeesh the expectations? Like the ones for Senzel? Who’s probably not ready.
